| I know many people prefer the CS-2 over CS-1, and SD-2 over SD-1. |

Hi,
I own all 3 CS's. The CS-1 is a totally different compressor design to 2 and 3. 1's sound and behave very different to 2's and 3's. 1's have a much more pronounced click to the attack (which I love). 2's are (to my ear) much softer than 1's and 3's. 3's are much noisier (hiss-wise) than 1's and 2's (at least, mine is). 2's are the quietest.
My favourite is the CS-1 then 3 and my 2 hardly ever gets used. Actually my 2 only gets used when I'm comparing to the others to confirm that I still feel the same way about them, which I do quite often.

The dBx version of the CS-3 is quite nice... and I'm "somewhat" alone with this opinion too |

| Nah! I couldn't get a good sound with my dbx-chip CS-3. Neither with my bass guitar nor with my strat. I don't like the compression curve. I do really understand why so many people mod this thing! It's time for a CS-5! Till then I'll stick to my Marshall ED-1 for bass playing. |

Include me in the somewhat category I have mine modded for better bass response, but I always liked it even stock. It was the first pedal I bought 15 years ago, and I still use it to this day. With bass only, I don't use compression on guitar. |

| GE-7 is better than GE-6? less hiss, and obviously it has an extra band and the level control :) |

I agree, but I think they took a step back again with the PS-5 (basically they added the HR-2 to the PS-3 and took out all the fun stuff ) |

I'd like to see this personally... Just an idea I came up with.
Boss NS-3, Noise Supressor
Aswell as the MUTE and REDUCTION options theres a mode called MUTE&REDUCE. This means the pedal is reducing signal noise all the time, and is muted when the pedal is stomped on. Would be a life saver for those without tuners (Mute) or volume pedals in our current setups... |

And me too, my home modded DBX MIJ one does the job perfectly for guitar |

When you have your effects in the loop, you can set it to mute and it will still supress as normal, so as long as your tuner is in the loop then you can do exactly that with the NS-2 :) |

Thanks mate, I'll have to give that a try
Hm improving a model... I guess I'd like my DD7 to be able to use a footswitch without hearing the tempo popping-sound |
