But O'bama is an Irish name, isn't it?

yep.... especially when their might be 40 million votes up for grabs..... but seriously he has promised to visit here as his great grandfather or grandmother etc is from part of the country i can't remember where but he spoke about it during the campaign...and i for one am looking forward to seeing/hearing him speak....hopefully this might influence some of our own jaded politicians especially the ones in the EU to think outside the box instead of the usual BS they come out with.... IMHO (and no disrepect to john MaCain) if this makes america turn a corner it will drag the whole lot of us out of the mess were in with the credit crunch etc....i'm pretty upbeat after hearing his victory speech..i even stayed up for it and it was at 4.00am our time.....

Update... his mothers family traces it's roots to moneygall a village on the way to limerick over on the west coast...controlfreaks neck of the woods........

Isn't it risky for working artists to discuss politics. Be careful. Look what happen to Dixie Chicks. Well I guess they wouldn't be known outside the US if it wasn't for that...

I havn't taken any sides, I promise! I'm Swedish. Sweden is not a state in the USA!

Well Franz I think I'm gonna move to Ireland and hang out with you. As a business owner I know you guys have the lowest corp. tax in the world if I'm not mistaken, oh yea and the fact that some of the most timeless melodies ever written come from there and the landscapes not to shabby either I can't figure why people don't understand that the "Big Evil Corporations" are the same places that give them jobs. I guess we'll see if he taxes the hell out of us we can all quit our jobs and go on the public welfare system. I guess the upside is more free time to play with my Boss pedals..If I don't have to sell them to eat that is

no problemo...we also do good pints of the black stuff as well... our recent economic success is largely due to as you pointed out our low corporation tax (plus the high standard of education in the workforce) which attracted companies like Intel,Dell, microsoft and all the other big multi-national and pharmaceutical giants in the last 20 years, this is a big reason why the Lisbon treaty was rejected in Ireland as the EU were making noises about us having to put our tax rates up to the same and other EU states but when it was time to vote they said the wouldn't force us and it wasn't part of the treaty, but no one believed them, plus the famous leaked email from the margot wallstrom to a high ranking civil servant in the UK where she said to supress information to the irish public ahead of the vote raised many peoples suspicions.....we were the only country in the whole of the EU to have a referendum on this since the dutch and french rejected it in 2005....it's the same document but with the title of treaty rather than constitution... but what you say is true the american multi nationals played a large part in our recent economic success and i hope Obama doesn't do anything too mad to scare them off...don;'t think this is a EU bashing essay as membership has been very good for us and good for the EU as well and i reckon most irish people want to stay part of the EU as it is but i also think a sizeable amount of Europeans(and not just the irish) want to retain some sort on national identity without going down the road of a federal europe....

Good Point H&S.

Yet. Haha.

I really had no feelings towards either candidate, because I really felt as if nothing was going to change no matter who was elected. The economy won't be magically fixed by either political party so I don't care.

I'll mimic some of the prior posts. The US is in such a deep hole right now, it's going to be damn near impossible to climb out within the next few years.
Phucked!!! with a capital PH-3!!! Maybe Boss should release a new phaser - the PH-4 (political-hype-4). I'm tired of having smoke blown up my ass. Farted smoke rings for all. MMM - delicious.
