I've just done a whole lot of research and testing on tremolo pedals. I recently picked up a Fender Twin Reverb II and these don't have the "vibe" controls that twins normally have.
The pedal of choice... is a Dano Cool Cat Tremolo ($49.95 here) in the FX loop. Careful setting of the send and return levels is required, but it is the closest thing I've tried to the tube vibe in my vibrolux (reissue).

my Voodoo Labs Tremolo is very close to my mid 70's Fender Princeton's tremolo...fairly inexpensive to boot |

That was the other choice. I went for the Dano purely on price... 80% for $50 or 90% for $200... |

The evils are cool, but this one is the "blackface" one from the series just before the evil twin.

Have to admit that the tremolo effect in the Line 6 pod XT pro is actually very good as well plus you can set it tap tempo from the foot controller ...if it's the same model in their compacts it would be pretty decent....
A twin is a pretty big tremolo pedal to cart around Laurie... .. |

Yeah... but I picked this Twin up for about 400 Euros
And my one real complaint is that it doesn't have vibe |

| I really didn't like the red knob twins when they came out too darn heavy, even back then i don't think i needed 130 watts |

This is the one I have: http://www.ampwares.com/amp.asp?id=115
It is 105W into 4 Ohms, but the internal speakers are 16 Ohms (giving 8 Ohms in parallel) so the actual power of the combo without an extension speaker is about 50W. THe full power only comes with an extension cab.
All of that is theory with this amp - it came to me with a pair of 8 Ohm celestions (4 Ohm load in the combo) that sound shocking on a Fender. Nice Marshall breakup right where the Twin's clean sweet spot should be. I have a pair of Jensen C12K 16 Ohm speakers for it I'm installing after I clean it up.
Sorry for continuing the OT for the thread... |

Also forgot to mention...if you're on a real tight budget for tremolo (i.e., under $30), Danelectro Tuna is pretty decent. You'd be surprised how much expressive tone this little box can crank out.
As for Voodoo trem, I prefer the 4-knob version for that "buttery" sound, whereas 2-knob version is pretty limited. |

I think your right ..Dr Bob has a Fender 75 1 X 12 combo from around the same time...supposed to be 'sleepers' in Fender amp circles,i think these were the last of the PTP Fenders... |

| Indeed. It is Rivera all right. And a nice one too... all point-to-point hand-wired goodness. |
