Now we know everything about strings im curious how many people use each brand:

Guitar:
D'Addario------1
Dean Markley---0
DR-------------0
Earnie Ball----0
Elixir---------0
Fender---------0
Gibson---------0

Bass:
D'Addario------0
DR-------------1
Elixir---------0
Earnie Ball----0

Lets start a tally you can create a section for acoustic if you like.

I use DRs exclusively, across the board. The RAREs for acoustic are amazing. I use Roundcore/pure nickel on my 74 strat, and roundcore/NPS on my Blade strat. Hi-Beams when I need more tighness.

I like GHS Rollerwound strings for my guitars (using heavier gages as needed for shorter scale guitars), and whatever's cheap for my basses.

Elixir strings are a good idea but the actual string that they coat is not that good. Elixirs seem to break about 2 times as fast as D'addario's eventhough they don't rust. Now if there was a company that bought D'addario's and coated them, well that would be a dream come true

In the future when i have the money I want to use the coloured DR strings.

D'addario does make coated strings.. their EXP series. they're not too bad.

Ernie Ball coated strings didn't impress me..

Elixirs are actually coated with Gore-Tex (Gore owns the Elixir brand).

DR also makes a nice coated string (in plain or a variety of fun colours). But I prefer their uncoated stuff. I can't spend $6 on a single string when I break one (well, it doesn't happen much)..

D'Addario 10-46 on the electrics....D'addario or Martin bronze on the acoustic......i might put some nickel wound electric strings on the 12 string acoustic as i'm using a tele neck pickup to amplify it and i heard they work better with magnetic pickups even if you lose a bit of acoustic tone.......

It makes sense that i use vacuum packed D'addario's over paper packed ernie balls. I heard that at last years NAMM they announced to start vacuum packing too but i haven't seen any around yet.
