I couldnt think of a great thread title. But I'd really like to get opinions on this. I own 2 EHX pedals, I like the sound they make, they look good... But not ONE of them uses a normal bloody 9 volt adaptor It really does put me off buying them in the future... I know they have this weird thing that they want there pedals to be as close to the originals as possible... I appreciate that. But please, needing a tip positive adaptor or a totally seperate adapor for every pedal? Please ... |

Yeah... It's annoying. My Russian Smallstone has a 3.5mm jack socket for power. I have an adaptor cable for it, but it's still a pain.
You could always mod your pedals to take the Boss-type power cord, it's not hard to do.
Fortunately the newer pedals in the di-cast enclosures seem to take standard Boss-type adaptors. |

This is one of the reasons I decided to let my Small Stone and Small Clone go. |

As part of my work expereince last week I was setting up a pedal demo in the guitar shop I was at, and I was setting up a few EHX pedals and was like
'ok they're not 9v, but it's even more annoying they all have different supplies!'
I had to work out what supplies went with what, I swear there were LOADS of different input, voltages, mA draw ect |

Having struggled with the need for higher voltage to drive some of my designs... there is no good/cheap answer to getting a higher voltage from the regular 9VDC supply. The "easy' answer is to use a higher voltage wall wart.
I can understand why the plugs are different for the higher voltage supplies - risk management 101 says you should make it really difficult to plug your 24VAC supply accidentally into your 9VDC pedal.
That being said, if the pedal needs a 9VDC supply, throw a standard jack on it please EH! I have WAY too many 3.5mm-to-Boss adapters kicking around.

Just as I thought really... I reckon 95% of the market would just prefer a normal input Maybe they're working with Visual Sound (Is that right), the company that makes the lil adaptors |
