I was reading for hours and hours and hours on this stuff, and there was even some talk of a conspiracy to get Jimi killed ... turns out that one of the record guys used to be a spy and that at the party on the evening he died, he was given some mystery drugs and when the GF at the time called for help (in the morning), he was way dead many hours before. She was always a suspect and very suspicious to his then girlfriend and in 96, she built a case against the one who called the ambulance... she commited suicide in 1996 as a result of those hearings but died before she was scheduled to give her defense. There was also a lot of writing about his music being off, and he was getting really p***ed off at peeps wanting to see him playing with his teeth etc. and he was in fact, doing lots and lots of lsd and heading downhill ... some shows he quit after two songs etc.... reads like he was really burning out, PLUS he had huge financial trouble because the record deals he wrote, only paid him 1% (imagine that just 1%) and the lifestyle was costing a lot of money. in 1970, they struck a deal and he had to produce an album for "free" to get out of the deal and the procees will all go to the guy who first signed him. One interviewer wrote how he spent 18hours a day recording and he was ingenious in the studio ... after me 'od-ing' on all the reading, i'm with you guys that he likely would have gone a season in jazz-fusion, some experimental, and today, at 66 (ihwsa) i bet he'd be selling out stadiums doing the blues.
Anyways... i was not in school yet when all of this was going down, so it was before my time ( i "woke up to music to Bachman-tuner-Overdrive - LOL as all you Canadians laff your a$$e$ off) but I got cousins who told me all about the buzz about woodstock and how there was lots of peeps trying to get there from very far away... it would have been cool to be a part of that ... uh, rather than "Duran Duran" LOL.
