| I am not sure if the first one is discolored due to smoke, because in the photo with the box, it looks whiter than the close up shot. Could be a lighting issue and if I was considering buying it, I would ask the seller for additional photos. |

All three of the DD-2s I currently have exhibit this to various degrees. Never having seen one in person before, at first I thought they had added a copper hue to the color... then later I was at a music store and saw a new DD-3.  The first one I got was the worst, then the two later had it, but it was less distinct. New, it seems that it should only be metallic silver with a hint of blue.
And cleaning the pedal won't remove it, either, unless you want to remove the painted-on lettering...
Since I'm a player and not a collector, it's not really an issue to me, but thought I should point it out to those of you who are mindful of such details.
