Roland Jc-50
What thinks you wise forum? Price keeps dropping. Think it started at £280, and now at £180. Worth it? Anyone desperately after one? |

| Laurie's got the 120 I think, I sold him an original 80's Footswitch for it. They're supposed to be a great clean amp (for transistor) |

well heres an example where solid state rules, a well desgined SS amp will kill most dirt cheap valve amps in my opinion, certainly as far as clean goes. |

The JC-120 is a superb clean amp. Musicians here consider the 50 to be a "poor cousin", but still a good little amp.
It would go for about $250 in good condition here. |

Not much good on a flight of stairs....
as for ollies comment on tranny amps he should know that a valve overdrive pedal makes a big difference.... obviously not stereo like the 120 i'm starting to agree with my earlier conclusion that older stuff like this was better built.... if i was offered it for €180 i'd haggle down to €150 then make an offer... |

Yeah I hear ya', I recall reading somewhere that it's very competitive in the clean amp department (taking on things like Fender twins and expensive tube amps)

Does the JC-50 have the same chorus/vibrato circuit as the JC-120? If it does, I reckon it would be cracking. I find my JC-120 to be very heavy and a bit too loud for home use. |

Hi DasBeef & Guys
Any-all of the Roland JC series amps are quality products. There is also a JC-77.
The studded trim covering gives them a sort of "Medieval" Look, which I like. The JC-50 is not common in Oz, but I do see a few JC-77's every so often.
If the price were right, it would be a No-Brainer decision for me. I have a soft spot for quality Roland gear. And don't kid yourself, these were expensive when they were released.
I do agree about the sound pressure levels possible from a JC-120. The Last JC-120 I played was very loud, & capable of causing an involuntary bowl movement, if you got too close
If you have noticed, all the COSM gear that Roland-Boss demo? Is run into a JC-120 or one of the newer Cube series amps.
"Clean" on the JC's is considered to be very Neutral & Pristine.

I'm not desperate on this amp, but as the price continues to fall, I'm becoming more, and more interested. It has been posted again, now at £170. No-one have one?

See, here's a JC-50 on eBay, that's already breached this guys asking price, and has £30 postage on top. Just can't decide if I want it, would use it, have space to store it etc... |

| £150 seems too high still. A good deal would be £100 ?? Worth it for that money I'd say... |
