Hi AdrianCrash,

I'm liking the Polaroid conversions.

Photography is a hobby of mine, I mainly do live photos and studio photo shoots for bands with the occasional wedding thrown in, much prefer taking shots of things vs people though, far less hastle.

I while back I did some desktop backgrounds featuring Boss pedals, see the thread below. Its about time I took some new ones, I have way more pedals now.

http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5742

I'm far from an expert but my advice is experiment; play around with lighting techniques, and take as many shots as possible. I think a basic understanding of how the ISO speed, aperture and shutter speed settings interact with each other is important too, especially when your getting into SLR cameras. Most importantly have fun.

Thanks for the advice Stengah2010,

Yes im experimenting with manual modes where i can manipulate all the settings of the camera, its really interesting how different can look a picture just moving the settings, about your photos of the boss pedals they are amazing i'll put one of them on my desktop background, i would like to have at least 1/4 of those pedals i would be happy for years, if all them are yours you are a lucky person, i've a question, what camera model do you use? and why? :] thanks

Before music, this was my expensive hobby 10 years ago. I even studied it for two years and ended up working in TV productions.

I have a lot of 'artistic' pictures but none of them are related to music or gear at all.

The polaroid effect is nice, but I'm starting to get a bit sick of the 'retro-era' we're in. Wanna sell something? Just put 'vintage' somewhere and grab some extra bucks.

(sorry for the rant)

my wife's a pro photographer, and it blows my mind what she gets paid to take pics of people/models/bands ect...I just don't understand people's obsession w/ it(I know music's the same way but...)...it's an addiction, just like gear though...it's great, I can justify buying all the gear I want because she'll turn around and buy a lens for an unreal amount of money in return...it balances itself out...most people have to hide their gas binges from their spouses...I consider myself fortunate.
if I don't at least post a link to her site she'll rip my ass...sorry for the spam

Your wife's website is great! Good concept & nice pictures! She seems to know how to use her expensive equipment!

And it's no spam at all since it's the Off-Topic area!

Haha! I got that all the time while I was studying it... And it also is about physics, chemicals and stuff like that too! And if you compare my pictures with those of my friends you'll notice the difference... And still don't know why mine are better!

Agreed, There is a certain amount of science in photography... It's not just all art!

Like everything natthu! even the music has a certain amount of science in it! but that does not make it less artistic or "magic", the really art is the emotion or felling that you put on it, in music is transmiting an emotion, in photography its almost the same, just in a different way. Well that's how i see the things.

Yeah. You gotta get the balance right, if it's too artistic (music, photgraphy or whatever...) it's difficult for others to appreciate it. If it's too scientific or technical it can become clinical and lifeless.

Totally diagree. I have no idea how to take a proper picture. That's also the same as saying music shouldn't be studied because you just pick up a guitar, play a few chords, add some effects (since were on bossarea ) and there you go?
While I think I agree with the sentiment, that getting a degree in taking photo's isn't the same as aquiring the correct qualifications to become a doctor, I still think studying anything artistic should be encouraged. The world would be a very, very dull place without the arts. Hell without them, this forum wouldn't exist. I study music everyday of my life, by listening to it, and playing it. I just don't go to school for it.

Although I'm a lousy photographer myself I do appreciate a good photo.
My favourite is this one from The story of Marshall book.
Everybody instantly recognizes Jimi from the photo although you only see his silhouette and not the man himself.
To me this is a real work of art, probably taken without much consideration but turning out to being an awesome pic.

OK, I fixed it using good old photobucket.
