Ok Guys. Everyone knows that both, TS (808/9)and SD-1, are very good for boost drive and more functions like smooth overdrive tone, bluesy drive, etc. They are very similar but not identical. In your opinion: which is better and why? Thanks! |

I have the two, and I love them both, but I prefer my beloved SD1, and it's just a matter of taste.. Mine is MIJ, but I don't know the year because Bossarea's serial number decoder starts in 89 (S/N 415200, if someone knows...)
But there is another reason than taste: I paid a very high price for my tubescreamer because of its status, and I was a bit disappointed as it's a good overdrive, but a little overpriced and over-used by everybody, whereas I paid nothing (25 euros!) for my SD1 and found it very beautifull-sounding...and honestly a better investment!
When you pay too much for something, you're often disapointed..and I must admit that the TS808/TS9 are very good pedals, but they are just overdrive pedals, that's all... I think that the legend surrounding some products can make us go wrong...or crazy (have you seen the price of an original TS808?) the SD1 doesn't have the tubescreamer's appeal, but is a superb-sounding overdrive, and less coloured than the tubescreamer |

| I like both as well but I think the TS-9 better for "modern things", you know. I think the TS-9 visual more attractive anyway. But this is strange...why the people want a TS9 (808) mod for the SD-1? I think nice is to have both! |

| TS-9 for blues, SD-1 for rock. I use SD-1 way more. |
