pls help me in solving this huge problem.
My old MXR 6 band EQ (vintage blue) when plugged on the amp the sound
of the amp becomes busted, i've tried cleaning the sliders with contact cleaner but it didn't solve the problem.
Before it sounded clean, after i remove it on my board (being replaced by a GE-7) for about 2yrs. the problem occured.

Now i really want to use it badly.

by the way this unit is only powered by a 9v battery its an oldie.

pls help

Argh! Don't use contact cleaner for sliders! Sliders should better be cleaned with isopropyl spray that doesn't let the electronic parts corrode as contact cleaners do. Contact cleaners are normally highly aggressive, because they mainly consist of pure acetone. They let your gear work again for a while, but the acetone destroys the parts little by little. You can use tuner spray for potentiometers, that's the way I'm cleaning pot problems. It doesn't work too well with sliders. Isopropyl spray works both with pots and sliders. Afterwards you can use vaseline spray to let it slide better again.

Contact sprays are no solution for small electronic devices! They are better for mechanical contact problems. And gold contacts can be cleaned with it, too, because acetone doesn't react with gold.

thanks for your advice pepemusic

might try another things with this thing now, might put a DC input jack just like what i did 2yrs ago with this thing (and power it using an adapter), might solve the problem.

I had one of those not too long ago with the same problem.

Once I changed all my electrolytic caps, the problem went away.

I think that if any pedal gets over 15 years old, you should change the electrolytics in it whether they need it or not.
