Hi all

Had to cancel a gig tonight as the weather was too bad we have about 7 inches of snow at the moment and counting..the gig was out in Dublin county near the border with Meath and the roads got too bad plus the van was having problems.....long time since we had to cancel...were currently in the coldest spell in Ireland since 1963 according to our metrologist people...in one part of the country it was - 17... unheard of in my lifetime so far..its about -5 in dublin at the moment...i know some of you guys in the states, central europe and the UK are probably laughing your asses off at me but this is unheard of in this country...and even though they were warned our muppet government didn't stock up on rock salt for the roads........and there telling us that the EU won't let us use local gravel grit or sand as it needs to got to europewide tender..the guy who used to provide Dublin during any snow or bad ice was on the news with 11,000 tons of grit lying in his quarry and 18 large dumper trucks lying idle and he is only one of 12 quarry owners who came on wondering why no one had rang...at 10 euro a ton..some of them were even offering it for free....red tape at it's worst...

P.S ..Please come back with your snowchains Disco Stu and make Franzoni the coolest part time taxi driver(no pun intended..) in Dublin........

It's that darn global warming. China is supposedly having its coldest winter in 40 years, too. Freezing temps down into Florida are threatening the orange crops.

70 & sunny in Phoenix, BTW.

42 Celsius in Adelaide, Australia today. 2/3 of my state (South Australia) is under extreme fire danger lock down (it's very dry here) for the next few days. It's the same conditions that caused the devistating fires near Dr. Bob's place in Victoria last year. Hopefully we'll be luckier than that.

We're having way too much snow up here in Holland too.
Our supplies of salt are also running out and last friday when
I left for work at 7:00 it was -13 celcius, brrr

It makes for some pretty pictures though.

Out on the street:

That's a bummer 'bro but I know that you guys will have given it your best shot - makes you wonder how many of the audience would have made it too.

It's pretty well the same situation here in South West UK - Bristol went down to minus 8 last week - unheard of in my lifetime. We've got an important rehearsal next week that could be doubtful as we all live a fair distance apart and it could get tricky as there's still a load of laying snow and ice around.

I live on a hill and haven't ventured out in the car yet, having watched and helped others struggle up it all week. Hoping that once I've got the JVM and other gear in the car, it will give me the back end weight (rear wheel drive) to get me moving!

Hi Guys
We are having the complete opposite here in Oz.
Today & yesterday were about 36 to 39-degC
And tomorrow it's predicted to be a blistering 43+decC, with extreame fire danger & risk warnings.

So I'm with Aaron on this one, we all wish we could have our lumpy bits in the Freezer, coolong off.

Regards --- Way too melting hot --- Dr. Bob.
Hey Franz, I can email you some heat from here is you want.

Same here in Belgium! I actually like snow I'm at home now, studying for my exams. When I take a break, I start a snowball fight against my sister .

Will there be an Elfstedentocht (11 cities tour), Dirk?

Honestly, I don't think so.
It doesn't freeze enough and there's way too much snow.
Would be cool though, last time was in '97.

For those of you left clueless about the Elfstedentocht, here's some info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elfstedentocht

Been pretty cold here lately, 12-15 Fahrenheit at night and not getting above freezing during the day. That's like -37 in Celsius !!

Franzoni, I have no idea what it would take to ship twelve-thirteen pounds of chains to Ireland, but by the time they get there the snow will probably be gone. Sorry about your gig though... really not worth it to take a chance of being in the ditch. Especially when your "lorries" are made of "aluminium" and there are no chains in the "boot".

Got a couple pairs on epay right now, what's your tire size on the Cab? Email me if you're serious.. internationalfirewood (At) gmail [dot] com.

I live in Normandy (Caen). From wensday 6 till today : no school bus, no city bus.

I went to the train station walking in the snow through Caen, then I was in my High School (I'm teacher), and there was no pupils.
