Hey There,
A couple of weeks ago this site helped me fix my Boss Compressor. At the end of the thread somebody asked me to go use it and report on the fave settings.
So I plugged it in and all though I'd used it for a while I thought I'd see what really worked.
At first it was the same settings. This compressor behaves like any other or perhaps a bit more resposive then say the MXR or others. These seem to always be the same. The Boss on the other hand works better when there is more to compress. By that I mean if you give the compressor more to...... compress it had and gave more dynamics. touch sensitivity etc. It had reserve, more horse power you could feel the powe. This was acheived by simply cranking the amp up. You could feel the power lurking under the hood waiting to be used . This could be further enhanced by governing things with the volume knob on the guitar as well.
I'm sure this might all a well traveled road to some folks here but none the less I thought I'd share my experience.

glad it's working again... however a compressor giving you more dynamics is like a distortion pedal giving you a cleaner tone.
a sound is dynamic if it has super quiet parts and super loud parts and a compressor is design to turn down the volume of the loudest parts so that the whole signal can be turned up and the quiet parts will become louder. The difference between quiet and loud isn't that big anymore - and the signal is less dynamic.

| Im with mully, signal after compresor must be "normalized", so isnt dinamic, because it is supposed to produce a equal signal for every string. |

sorry to disagree again... normalization is a process that doesn't change dynamics. It just assures that the loudest peak is at 0dB
so normalization does change the volume not the dynamics.
honestly - sorry for being a pedantic ass but I do think it's important to use those terms correctly - even if it's just for the sake of communicating |

Dont worry About it, Mull, I like to learn, but I said normalize does not have a dynamic response, compressor reduce loud notes in order to have a almost same volume on every note...that's what i said "Im with you"
Dont be afraid, you are making a real good job with your advices and knowledge...
OK, Congratulations again to Gary , and thank to share fix process and happyness with us....nice job... Cheerssss |
