I just picked up a cs-3 for 40USD. I have been soldering for about 15 years and just started modding pedals. I was thinking about modding it. I have been seeing these go for about 90USD on ebay.I have all the parts so what do you think. i think at most it will cost me about 5USD what do you think. Or should i just sell the pedal as is.

If you enjoy modding and master the soldering, I would definately mod it. The choice is yours of course, but if it is just for selling, which I think because you already have a CS-3, you could make more money out of it modded I think.

Hi !

I would definitely mod it unless it is a vintage MIJ with the DBX chip.

Anything that makes it quieter is fine to me.

By the way I just found out that in the Monte Allums mods,if you replace the diodes with silicon (1n4001) instead of germanium(1n34a) the sound is clearer and you also get rid of that "pump" effect.

But then,it's up to you

Why did you mod C18 ?

That's connected to the switch and hardly effects the sound.

The same applies to C10 and C16.

Nice work! Zerks I have this MT-2 that's not working quite right... just kiddin'! Seriuosly, I think a lot of cats are leary of a soldering iron and all they have to do is get their feet wet! After your done you can say, I did it myself!

Hi zerksies & guys
It's not about how quick you are at modding.
It's all about knowing you did it yourself.
What you are learning & the skill you develop along the way.
The quality of workmanship.
Peace of mind knowing you can restore it back to its original specifications.
And most of all PRIDE.

PedalDan also touched on this in his above post.

It's a cheap hobby. I pick up all kinds of pedals cheap. and the parts don't cost much at all.And the fun i can have experimenting.I just did a mod on a ds-1 i changed all the normal caps the everyone seems to change from what i gathered on the internet. It cleaned up the sound nicely. but what i am finding where the real magic is happening is in the diodes. so i have been experimenting. right now i have a set of 1n4002's in there
