Hey guys !
I'm Franois from France, and I'm a Boss Pedal Fan. My first one was a MT2 bought from ebay, but I was a bit younger by the time, and I sold it ( Franois) about 3 years ago...
Now I need to ask you something :
I am a guitarist in a metal band, and I have recently bought a Peavey VK212 Amp. I'm not quite satisfied with the distortion of the amp, and I was thinking of getting a distortion soon. You guys think that the new ML2 is good ? I would like to have the sound from Killswitch, Bullet for My Valentine, Chimaira, well you know, stuff like that
Here is my current set up :
Guitar > Dunlop Wah > BF2 > TU2 > PH2 > Amp.
I'm thinking of purchasing a NS2, in order to reduce the feedback (metal bands play loud lol) and also a GE7 to work more precisely on my sound.
I'll have to rebuild my pedal board, since i'm planning on buying new pedals, so can you help me with it (which one goes where)
THANKS A LOT just for reading what I said, and thank you even more if you reply xD
Cheers guys |

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I don't think anyone here has actually tried the ML-2 yet. It's due in the stores about a month from now and is supposed to be the heaviest sound from Boss yet. There's some sound samples on www.bossus.com. Press the video button to see a demo of the ML-2 (and the other new pedals for 2007).
I haven't heard the Peavey Valvekings but most amps with 12AX7s in the preamp benefits from a booster to push the valves into their sweetspot (IMO). For soloing you might find that a pedal like the DS-1 or SD-1 gives you more clarity and control over the sound than the high gain pedals like the MT-2 and MD-2. For riffing and chords I would prefer one of the latter two or the new ML-2 (if I could get my mits on one). |

Strange thing about the ML2, it's available in France... if France gets new pedals before the US, what's wrong with boss
So the MT2, MD2 and ML2 may meet my needs as a metal guitarist ? Too bad we don't have enough details on the artists gear...
Simple question : it's better to get a Japan GE7 than a Taiwan one right ?
Can anyone help me about which pedal goes where if I get all this gear ?
Thanks for replying ) |

| GE-7s made in taiwan are apparantly less noisy and therefore better than japan units |

Have you actually seen it in the stores? Several web shops have started selling but none of them can deliver yet. If you can get hold of one you can make money by selling it on Ebay (I'll buy one) |

I'd set pedals this way
Guitar > TU2 > Dunlop Wah > NS2 > Amp.
NS2 send > HM3 > GE7 > BF2 > PH2 > NS2 return

Well thanks Ptero, This is going to help me out !
Wow many Planet Wavec Patch cable to buy...
I just tried 5 mn ago the loop of my amp and I have to admit that it is really bad... ok the flanger and phaser are very loud (I like that ;)) but the wah is not to be put on unless you want your ears to dye fast...
So according to you ptero, it'd be better to use the loop from the NS2 and to keep the tuner and wah on apart from the others... If I do so, there's no way that the volume is way too high just as with my amp loop ??
Another question : I have an ACA adapter for my pedals, I know that PSA shouldn't be used to power Japanese pedals, but is it ok the other way ? I guess so, it's been working ever since, but it was just to figure it out...
Thanks for your help ! |

Yes, many patch cable needed.
I was thinking in my AW-3 which is dynamic responsive, that's the reason I use it before my NS-2. Your wah is a normal wah, expresion pedal wah, you can use it in your NS-2 loop. There's no way that the volume is way too high if you set low the level knob of your distortion.
about the ACA pedals look at this thread.. http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=122
or use the search tool, there is a lot of information here at this website, specially from Stinkfoot. |

I don't know if it reduces noise a whole lot but another option to the GE-7s is a PQ-4. I've heard (still trying to get one myself) they are very cool, not harsh and offer a lot of tonal control. |
