Hi all,

I have a boss digital reverb pedal (RV-5) that I bought ages ago off of ebay and, (because of moving house and renovating) I didn't use the pedal for a while. I've just come to using it and there appears to be a problem.

When the pedal is tapped or knocked it makes a loud audible 'clunk', almost like a connection goes. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Also, out of curiosity, this is the only boss pedal I have ever owned where it is autmoatically on when the jack is plugged in (as opposed to off and then pres the button to turn it on). not too bothered about this really, but would like to know why this happens!

Thanks very much for any help you can provide!

Alex

Hi musicmaker29

First of all, welcome to the forum from Australia.

Check if the input or output sockets they are loose?
Check if any of he pots-switches are loose?
Try cleaning the sockets with contact cleaner.

You really haven't given us much info, but it sound like the problem is electromechanical.
Do you remember is anything happened to it before the problem started.

Do you own a soldering Iron & Multimeter?
What electronic or soldering skills do you have?

We might need more information.
And we might ask you to upload some internal pictures.

Regards Dr. Bob

It seems to be "dirty" on connectors, try loosing a little bit connectors and apply contact cleaner, you can also clean that outside part with a tight brush ( like a clean dental brush) or if you can, open this pedal and apply contact cleaner on both conectors (input and output)

Also you must check your patch cords, sometimes it causes similar issues.

Some pictures can help to give us a better idea.
