A lot of people have been talking favourably about the MIJ DS-1 for a long time now. Sellers are reading it over and over again and start believing they're sitting on a gold mine. Admittedly, it's a good pedal but $250 is just stupid. If the rarity was comparable to the DM-2, I guess the price could be justified but I suspect that the number of MIJ DS-1s in circulation outnumber the DM-2 at least by 5:1.
