just as a matter of interest....controlfreak raised a question about the volume output of the ds1....and the od2 seems to suffer from the same problem ...just a little to low volume wise,is there a mod you can do to increase this without interfering with the basic sound.... i seem to remember stahlhart had some idea's on how this might be approached...maybe some of our resident electronic gurus if they have the time might have a look into this...i'm just a dabbler..just enough running repairs to keep everything going smoothly or customise something to my personal taste..i've got by so far by boosting one pedal with the other or my cs3....thanks.....

Ive been toying with the output on my sd1 as well. The OD-2 and SD-1 have the same output, as far as I can tell.
For the SD-1 Tubescreamer 9 mod swaps out R16 from 1K to 470ohms, i threw in a toggle, no difference between the two. Good thing i set it up for a dpdt toggle so i could try the ts-808 which is R16 to a 100ohms, and R17 from 100K to 10K. (R16=R4 and R17=R5 on OD-2) A tenth of the original value. But the output cap on the TS's are 10uf, which is C10 on the SD1, or C3 on the OD2. But on those two pedals the value is only 1uf. The BD2 has a 10uf cap, but same resistor setup as the sd1/od2. Since only changing the resistor to a 470ohm does nothing, Im guessing part of it would be the 10uf cap also. I just did the 470ohm resistor swap yesterday, so havent had a chance to explore this further.

Any thoughts guys?

Thats where I got my info for the sd-1. At the time when i registered, i didn't think i would need the ebook they were offering. I deleted the email, wonder if im still eliagble?

Kinda glad i don't have a od-2, seems theres a couple threads about broken ones, must have been a sleepyguy on the production line

I have mine at least 15 years and never had any problems apart from it could be a little louder.... mine is an old one and has done at the very least a couple of hundred if not more gigs and countless rehearsals/recordings in that time.... easily my most switched on and off pedal....

Got the book the other night, lots of good mods.
Makes me want to go out and but a whack of pedals now
Found out using a frequencey calculater, the cap/res combo at the output is the same, hmmm, extra hole for a switch....

It took me forever to find this thread. Thanks guys. Here's what I've done so far...
1. Changed the output resistors to 808 specs and the 1uf electro cap. to 10uf.
2. Changed the diode set up to 2 silicons per side for sym clipping and more output/ gain before break up.
3. Raised the value on the tone cap to .68uf

I think that's all I've changed but it's tough to keep track. It changed this little pedal quite a bit. It can actually do a little boosting now. The saturation isn't as great but there is more bass and the pedal is cleaner overall. Before the value changes it was a little weak in output and a little bit nasal sounding. On a side note has anyone thought of modding the "turbo" section? I think it's around Q21.
I also am now thinking of changing the BD2 to the 808 output specs because, in a way this thread gave me the idea. Anyone tried it? It took out and put a jumper across one diode in each direction for a "squishy" feel. I like it a lot.
Rock,
A

forgot...

Changed C1, C31, C33, C35 to .1uf

that's it.

Someone on another thread said to adjust the area of high and low pass filters around C29 and R37, R36 and C24, and C23 and R33. Use this tool

http://www.muzique.com/schem/filter.htm

to find out what the frequencies are being let through to the next stage or rolled of.

tweak away...
