Hi!
I have got two pedals for sale that I try to sell here now because it surprisingly didn't work on eBay via "Buy now". I think that the prices are realistic, I even went down with the prices a few days ago!
XT-2 with several traces of usage, Level-potentiometer is a little bit askew, 100% working, fully cleaned inside and out. All information and good pictures can be found here: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110498096026&ssPageName=STRK:MEUSX:IT My price is 65 EUR (my last XT-2 in much worse optical condition went over for 56,53 EUR in January). I would trade it in for a CE-5 or a NS-2.
CS-3, made in Japan with box in superb condition. This has also been cleaned inside and out and works fine. It has a small chip and apart from that just fine scratches, as you can see in the pics of my ended ebay auction: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110498096023&ssPageName=STRK:MEUSX:IT My price is 75 EUR without the offered daisy chain cable that I offered at eBay (I think that you all have got enough of those). I would trade it in for a FT-2, DC-3, a PS-3 or a SYB-5.
I prefer PayPal payment. I would ship within Europe, maybe world wide (depending on the offers). |

Is it normal in '88 pedals to wear Made in Japan back plates together with Roland-Taiwan labels? That surprised me!
The auctions had really good pictures. I hope you sell them, I like your CS-3 but it's over my top-bid for that model. |

I have also been surprised when I first saw the label. Does anyone know more about these labels?
I use to sell my gear with good pics so nobody can tell me afterwards that I've been hiding something. By the way the attached YouTube demo video of the XT-2 features my first XT-2 that I sold in January. So you can figure out what it looked like. The XT-2 I have for sale now does definitely look better. But I will not sell my XT-2 in MINT condition! I like that sound! |

I am sorry to say and i thought you knew better but your CS-3 looks just like any ordinary 35 euro MIT CS-3, i just noticed the box has no 'made in Japan' markings on the sides so there you go. It is just a MIT pedal with a wrong backplate on it.
I tried to sell an XT-2 as well on ebay, i got rid of it for 45,- which seems realistic to me, there's just no market for pedals like these.

But where did the backplate come from when it was really built in Taiwan? And did the Japan made pedals ALWAYS have a note on the case that it was made in Japan? When exactly did the movement to Taiwan happen? This one was made in November '88. Really Taiwan made? |

I'd pay 35 or 40 gladly for that tiny blue metal box
I didn't look at the box before, and it's true, it doesn't seem to show a "made in japan" statement at all. |

Okay, I've just read an old thread where bossarea says that the production of Japan made pedals was stopped around '91 or '92. If so, the pedal curcuit and components might perhaps have been produced in Japan and everything was assembled in Taiwan and put into a new box without the Made in Japan note.
Could it be that way? |

| I have a MIT CS-3 with the same serial label in the compartiment from '89, so the chance to Taiwan was really around '88 mine does have the same box as yours too. |

Backplates get switched around all the time... heck, even I'm guilty of it! I'd trust the note inside the case over the backplate. |
