So I stumbled across something wonderful today, a music shop that I didn't even know existed, very close to my house. It's more of an electronics shop (it's called electrofix), but the windows were full of various boss goodies at varying prices. However, something caught my eye - a microrack overdrive, and it included the power supply (I'm assuming it will be a standard boss powersupply). At the price it seemed worth a gamble just for the price of the power supply, but what do people think of the microrack range? going off the search function I couldn't find much in the way of discussion with regards to the Rod-10 overdrive, but it certainly looks interesting. If the consensus is good I'll buy it tomorrow seeing as it was closed when i walked past today.

I think the whole microrack series is seriously underrated. All units are really well designed with lots of features and connections. I bought all of them a couple of years ago and decided to limit the price to 30 per unit. I had some problems finding the RDD-10 but the rest I picked up in matter of weeks. The ROD is a cracking overdrive and with 5 different modes it's more versatile than any stompbox.

Bought my ROD-10 brand new when it came out. Except for the fuzz mode which I don't like very much, I like this unit very much. Indeed, the Mirco Rack series is very underrated.

I also have a couple of the micro-racks.
RRV-10 is the one I likes the most, its really good for using with guitar, phenomenal!
Its sounds about the same as RV-2 but have much more possibilities.
Also the delays are very good, cousins to DD-2/3.
As Bossarea says you can get all the micro-racks cheap, and they are all worth (well, maybe not the noise gate) a lot more as musical instruments

I searched for microrack (and variations) on evilbay and came up empty. Interesting.

I have the RCL-10 compressor and the RDD-10 delay/chorus which I use in the fx loop of my bass amp.
Great underrated 80's stuff, super low noise, almost studio quality gear, built in daisy chains.
The delay is a 12 bit digital unit, yielding an almost analog quality to the sound.
Off course, back in '85 this was state-of-the-art

The more I hear about the microrack series the stronger the GAS gets! I went back to the music shop today but unfortunately they were closed due to a bereavement. I'll try again tomorrow on my way into university. What sort of prices have you found them for Bossarea? The ROD-10 is 29 with a power supply in the shop, which I think is pretty reasonable. They have some bizarre other gear like the voice transformer and some of the sampling units, it's quite a collection!

29 is a good price and probably around average. Getting it with an adapter makes the price very good. You might find the RCL cheaper and the RDD, RSD, RPD and RPS usually cost a little more. I've picked up a couple of RPW-7 power supplies as well for about a tenner each.

Are these things actually available in Canada I wonder? I've seen them in Australia, but can't recall seeing them here...

Microracks tend to pop up on ebay (uk, at least) every few weeks. They used to go for 20-25 until last year, when the prices seemed to climb significantly: Certainly the RDD-10/20 and RRV-10 seem to go for 40+ (i blame Bossarea for reccommending them!)

Well guys, I got it and I have to say I'm rather fond of it. I think having more than just a tone control on a dirt box really makes all the difference, there are some really good overdrive tones on tap, although the fuzz is a bit hit and miss. I have a feeling there is a sweet spot for it on the EQ, Haven't found it yet though...
