/rant on.
something that's been bugging me lately is the recent blatant abuse of the term "vintage."
i asked once what constituted vintage... and was told 25 years old. which makes a lot of sense... 25 years is about how long it takes for someone to have enough money to buy whatever it was that made em flip out when they were 16-18 without financially crippling themselves and/or feeding the kids shredded newspaper and generic spaghetti o's with wyler's brand kool-aid knock off to wash it down.
seems lately that on both ebay and craigslist the term "vintage" now seems to signify "not currently in production" on the modest abuses and on the severe end, "not purchased within the past 6 months."
just makes me want to punch someone in the neck sometimes. VINTAGE DD-5. VINTAGE HM-3. VINTAGE PW-2. i give it 3-6 months before i see vintage DD-6's being advertised.
i don't really have a point to make, i just feel like complainin. wonderin if anyone else sees this as getting rather absurd too.
/rant off. |

As I was once advised by an old work colleague: never confuse "sell" with "deliver"
BTW, anyone interested in a vintage DD-7? Only $800 - with box and papers! |

Yeah, "vintage" is kind of open to interpretation which makes people think they can use the loosest interpretation possible. What really torques my is misuse of the word "mint". This word should not require any interpretation. And then there are the people who write stuff like "mint with some minor scracthes" or "mint for a pedal its age". |

You really should say "pre-vintage". |

This has had me worked up too. A couple of years ago, a UK importer starting selling Chinese guitars branded Vintage. Now the expression has lost all meaning so I've completely removed the word from my vocabulary.
I got a pack of vintage ham in my fridge. It expired yesterday. I was going to throw it out but maybe I should sell it on Ebay instead |

Hi Bossarea
You might want to RELIC it a bit, by leaving it out of the fridge, & in the sun for a few days. I hear Relic-ed Ham is in demand.
Do you know of any Vintage Ham Date decoders, that we can use to check it's authenticity...
And can you tell us if it's the LONG RASH type....
Don't blame me... you started it.
Regards Dr. Bob |

I think the authenticity needs to be confirmed by nose. If it smells right it's bound to be vintage.
If I wait a few days I might be able to bundle it with a vintage shrimp cocktail. Unfortunately it's the plastic lid type so might not be as valuable as metal lid shrimp. |

| Still up for sale is my pre-vintage DD-7 with box and papers. Starting bid only $1100 (sorry for the price increase - it's 2 days older than when I last posted). |
