| What are your opinions on this pedal? I just bought one, NOS, (but unfortunately without box and manual), for $ 45, and just started testing it... I found the U2 - Numb sound, and some funky settings (all in mode 1), I think mode 2 is pretty unusable... anyone has tried this pedal? What do you think of it? Any useful settings you know? |

I prefer the ph-2 in teh mode I setting, beefier than the synthy sounding mode II. It the 10 stage vs 12 stage. Makes me really want to get a ph-1r, the 4 stager... One setting i like is 4,6,5,mode I, another is to set it low and let give my od/dist a subtle lift |

I like it better than the PH-1R
*crickets*
The PH-1R sounds like a cleaner Small Stone or Phase90 but with extra control. The PH-2 sounds totally different - sort of unique among pedal phasers. I actually prefer mode II - because it's even more weird again. Maybe you have to go through all the Small Stone, Phase90 and PH-1Rs to appreciate it's difference. Yes, it sounds more processed than the PH-1R, Yes it's not as easy to integrate into traditional music, but when you've tried phaser after phaser that are just Phase90 derivatives it's refreshing. |

it depends what you want. if you want a usable phase sound, i recommend the PH-1r.
if you like trippy stuff with lots of fuzz and delay i recommend the PH-2. just like my last post about fuzz pedals, i have trouble using the PH-2 in my setup. i much prefer the PH-1r |

PH-2 was one of the first Boss pedals for me as I started to collect them, but I never liked it. Earlier I have had a Small Stone, so I compared it a bit against that, and as you all know Small Stone is one of the best out there. Later I got PH-1, and liked it a lot more than PH-2. Why?? Its not that simple that PH-2 has too many knobs

| No..probably not.. But I think it's easier to handle one or two knobs than in this case 4. |

PH-2 + DD-5 = Welcome to the Submarine Voyage (BYO googles)
XT-2 + PH-2 + DD-5 = I can fly! |

PH-2 is the best of all the Boss phasers in my opinion. I loved it in my pedal setup. not much time for any of the others PH-1's not flexible enough for me and the PH-3 to much electronic sounding THE 2 is the one!!!!

| when i got my PH-1r i spent hours just stumming random chords and letting it ring out as the pedal is so sweet and lush. i find the PH-2 is fairly unusable on mode2 and the mode1 is basically the PH-1r so why not just get the original? |

I love my PH1r with my guitars, and I think it's one of the best sounding phaser ever made.. rich and beautifull!
...but when I need a deep phased sound with my analog synths, I prefer to use my PH2...enormous and metallic!
So both are winners to me ! |

Like controlfreak said mode 1 is the same as a PH-1r but you can get the PH-2 much cheaper....i use it in mode 1 with the res down and i think its a good pedal i bought it after recommendations from people on this forum...in fact it was one of my first posts about boss phasers..... i had a lend of an orginal small stone years ago and i also had a musicman amp with a built in phaser and i remember ditching the small stone in favour of the amps one...... |
