Has anybody on the forum modded a BD-2? Im on my way doing it and have found a lot of ideas on the net, too many to use them all.. So I need some input to what is needed to:
Tame the highs A little more bottom end Get rid of the harshness
I will use it as a light overdrive, drive knob under 12 o clock.
C19 to .01uf - filters highs at 2.843k instead of 5.077k
.0022 (or .0044 switched on mine) caps across clipping diodes (just one across the lot that is)- reduces fizzy harshness - also takes off a bit of top
This has pretty much got it where I want it for low to medium levels of drive (I don't think it's well suited to high levels of drive) for rootsy Fendery sounds. I have compared it to the drive channel on my Marshall JTM 60 which is not as middly as most Marshalls and it sounds very similar only very slightly artificial, to the extent that in rehearsal and gig situations it pretty much makes no difference.
I am also going to try changing C14 to 0.1uf at some point to see if it adds a little more body although the fact that it doesn't do the mid boost thing is what makes it more natural than most other ODs IMHO
