Hi! I acquired a PH-1r on ebay and it arrived having several issues: 1.: the LED does not light up when the effect is in effect (no pun intended...) 2.: the resonance knob can be turned beyond the "7h00"-position, it seems to have come loose between the 9 oclock position and the 6 oclock position. 3.: the pedal seemes to go dead once in a while.
I am no techie, have no clue what to do and unfortunately I have not that much time to fiddle around with it.
BTW does anyone know, whether Stinkfoot does any repair jobs of this or any sort?
Many thanks for any thoughts on the subject.
Cheers!

Does the LED light up, when you step on the pedal (momentarily)?
If so this is perfectly normal, and just a momentary led which is how all earlier Boss pedals were. |

The LED does light up ever so faintly and stays ON, as far as i can tell. Is this normal? I can only tell that it is ON, from maybe 15 cms away and with perfect lighting. This cannot be right, can it? If so, I need a stronger LED than this one.

I don't think there are any PH-1Rs with momentary LEDs. What's the serial number of yours, ununtrium? If the pedal works but the LED doesn't light up, then there's only a few components that can be faulty. Even if you knew which one it was you might want a tech to look at it to get it properly fixed.
Take off the resonance knob and make sure the nut underneath is properly fastened. The problem can also be caused if the resonance knob has a set screw that has come loose.
When the pedal goes dead, what do you do to get it going again? It could be as easy as cleaning the jacks or switch with some contact cleaner but it could also be a cold solder point on the PCB. When it goes dead, try unplugging and plugging in each jack to see if you can find out where the problem is located. |

I was writing while you last posted so I didn't get the update.
It sounds to me like you are powering the pedal with a 9V adapter like the Boss PSA adapter. The PH-1R is made for the 12V ACA adapter and will be underpowered when used with a 9V adapter.
Have you tried running it off a battery? Does it light up properly then? |

My PH-1r has got the serial #072500. On the few occasions, when it had died, I twiddled all cables connected with it (like a real pro ) and it came back to life, again. When, or better "if", it dies again, Ill do as instructed.
I dont have the equipment necessary for tightening the knob and honestly I feel a little uneasy about how the resonance knob turns, especially because it turns to the right perfectly well.
Did any of you experience very weak LEDs, as well? |

There's a short description of the adaptor problem here: http://www.bossarea.com/other/aca.asp
If you have another pedal you can try to connect both at the same time. This will also work around the problem. |
