This has been dealt with in another thread, but I figured it needed its own as new information is added.

This is whats been said so far:

What's the serial number of your CE-2? I'd like to find out when exactly the long dash disappeared. I have a catalogue photo of a CE-2 with black screw and long dash so I'm confident the silver screw disappeared first but it's hard to say exactly when it changed.

bossarea, the S/N on my CE-2 is 137600. The decoder indicates December 1981.

Thanks, I've got a spreadsheet where I add data about pedals. With enough data in there I hope to say for sure when the long dash disappeared.

I have an entry already in that spreadsheet where it says
CE-2, #0000, short dash.
Not sure about that though. It sounds too early so I will need more data.

For the record I just bought a DS-1 with S/N 0400.

OD-1: long dash at least until 124000
DS-1: long dash at least until 6-digit serials (mine has an unreadable sticker but long dash)
CE-2: long dash at leat until 9900

Unfortunately I haven't got more info than that. For some reason I didn't write down this info for more than a few pedals.

Here's my two Japan DS-1's:

long dash, paperstamped serial #143600
Decoder says it's from Jan '82

short dash, paperstamped serial #367400
Decoder says it's from Nov '83

Hope this helps!

I've just bought a CE-2 with the Black thumb screw and it also has the long-dash logo. (paper stamped serial #118700)

I've seen and owned quite a few Long-dash CE-2's without the silver screw so I'm pretty sure the silver screw went first.

Thanks, it looks like the long dash disappeared pretty much simultaneously on all pedals. It probably happened around serial 15xxxx-20xxxx (Feb 82 - July 82). We need a few more observations to be sure so keep looking for them
