I looked on line and couldn't find a link. I KNOW I saw this in at least one magazine, but I'll have to apply eyeballs to paper to find it. |

@ dr bob: i was afraid you'd say something about grounding. shielding didn't occur to me. *sigh* i think i'm starting to get over my aversion to sticking velcro to rubber, though i'm still not much of a fan of velcro from an aesthetic pov. it's mild ocd at work, i just hate hate hate it and i have no justification for it.
@ rich_S: if you see the ad again, please post the name of the brand or product! |

The good news is, I found the ad.
The bad news is, it wasn't what I remembered. My bad chemicals must have been playing tricks on me that night.

These guys have a couple of products. The one I remembered wrong doesn't screw on, it's just adhesive-backed velcro, but it's pre-cut in the shape of a pedal, with a removeable center to keep it off the label. So, it's kinda what you're looking for.
Their other product is a pedal-shaped riser for getting 2nd-row pedals up above the front row. It has velcro pre-attached top & bottom, and has some slick wiring channels to keep wiring bundled up.

I tried this years ago and ran into the following problems 1) the boss pedal case threads are super easy to strip - be careful when putting those links back on 2) once screwed down, your pedal board is relatively "permanent" as there is no quick changeover 3) for any collectible, valuable pedals, those chainlinks WILL scratch the paint off the edge of the pedal case so put some electrical tape in between the link and the pedal case to create a makeshift nylon washer.
I did not like this setup at all for the above reasons and found it much easier and more flexible to use a combo of BCB 6 and bcb 3 as needed although they take up more floor space than well designed fixed pedalboard. |

| I love the chain links. I have large sheets of velcro. I have contact glued this on the bottom of all my pedals which really for me are just tools of trade. I have found small strips come off at inopportune moments so the entire bases of my lovely pedals are velcro hooks. The carry case for the pedals was already fitted with loop. Now I can even put my pedal roadcase in the luggage at airports! I have even found more ways to use velcro, I now roll out some carpet prior to set up and velcro my cables to it. I took some hook velcro to the carpet shop to find the most suitable carpet. I even tried rolling up the carpet with the cables on it to save setup time, this works o.k. too. I notice also if you can get the carpet to fly you can velcro your shoes. |
