So in the last two week, I had bid on 4 different pedals ( PH-1 , BF-2 , EH-2 , NF-1 ) winning for under 10 dollars ( 3 for .99 ) and just minutes before the end of the auction the sellers canceled my bid and ended the auction. Then less than ten minutes latter the pedals are back as a new auction. So I complain to ebay saying there are tools that sellers can use to ensure they receive the price they are happy with, like Starting Price, Reserve,
And this is the response I received.
(( Thank you for writing eBay in regard to your bids being cancelled by the sellers of the items.
I recognize your concern regarding your bids being cancelled by the sellers of the items.
Stephen, I have reviewed the items in question and show that the sellers ended the items early because the sellers didn't have one item for sale an in the other items, the sellers made an error in the listing. ))
This is after I gave them the links to the cancelled auctions and then links new auctions, showing that they did have the items still, and that they also had the items listed for 5 days, before discovering that they made an error in the listing and they were all listed again exactly as the original listing.
So IMO, eBay Customer Support is, BS they can kiss my @#!!, go to %#!! eat @ #!* and die. |

Ebay Customer service sucks big time, couple of months ago i won an auction of an ibanez tube king for only 20 euro and then got a mail from the seller that he did not sell for that price and asked me to pay 105 euro plus 13 euro shipping costs. I made a complain to Ebay customers service and asked if they wanted to participate in this and pointed out to Ebay and the seller that i won the auction and seller had to deliver due to their rules.
Ebay then wrote me back that the seller was unexperienced and was given a warning. I then complained saying that the rules are very clear and that seller agreed on those rules when he subscribed to Ebay but that didn't help either, the said that they thought their new member was punished enough with a warning.
They call it their 'buyers protect program' but in fact they just want to hold on to their sellers cause they bring in the money!

you could just start a new account and bid really really high for the items just to annoy the seller when you don't pay up! |

So I replied to Customer Support. Showing them the old and new auctions again, ( a separate email for each item ) and here's the second response.
(( We are very concerned about violations on the site and have thoroughly investigated your report. The eBay Privacy Policy prevents me from discussing the specifics of our investigation. I can tell you, however, that in this instance we didn't find evidence that a violation occurred.
I understand your concern about this situation, and we can reopen the investigation if we receive additional information about the possible violation. Please feel free to contact the SafeHarbor team with additional information about this account. ))
Good thing this guy isn't a murder investigator....
Suspect: ( eBay seller ) No sir, I don't know how that dead guy got six bullets in his head.... I don't know anything about the smoking gun I'm holding in my hand... Maybe he committed suicide by shooting his self six times in the head....
Murder Investigator: ( eBay Customer Support ) umm... looks like that's exactly what happened. Case Closed. |

Hearing stories like this gets me fuming and it's not isolated incidents either. These things happen over and over and Ebay always sides with the seller. |

Laurie was just lamenting a few days ago that there are ever and ever fewer rare pedals being put up for bid on eBay these days.
Read what's being discussed in this thread and then ask yourself why that is.
Sellers are damned if they do and damned if they don't. How many of you actually bother to bid when you see the words "reserve not met"?

If you want $125, start the fucking bidding at $125. The reserve price is bullshit. I email a seller and ask what is the reserve and they won't reveal it. Why ? If you have a price in mind tell me. If we are on the same wavelength then maybe there will be a sale. Reserve not met is complete and utter horseshit. Stop playing hard to get and give us the price you want up front. Then if you get more you will have an extra special super colossal ultra mega hyper deluxe day. |

Well, in that case you might as well just set up eBay to be like Craigslist and have everything offered like classifieds. Just set it to the going street price and first come, first served. Make all of them BIN.
What's the point of having auctions anyway, if both buyers and sellers are going to cheat and try to game the system to screw the other party?
If people were honest and moral, the model would work. The fact that it doesn't tells you everything you need to know about human nature these days.
You couldn't get a PH-1 for less than $10.00? Why not just find out where the seller lives and burglarize them, if that's all it's worth to you?

I am honest and moral I put down decent max bids, It's not my fault nobody else bid on the auction. I did not cheat nobody out of nothing. It is the sellers who decided to start at .99 cents. An auction is an auction the seller decides where to start the bidding, and can also put a reserve to insure they get a satisfactory price. If you put an item up for auction at a low starting price and no reserve that's the chance you take. You don't hear any sellers crying when two or more get into a bidding war an the pedal goes for 200 or 300 hundred.
quote: What's the point of having auctions anyway, if both buyers and sellers are going to cheat and try to game the system to screw the other party?
Just how can a buyer cheat a seller in the auction, ( hey I bid .99 cent if anybody out bids me I'm going to hunt you down, terrorize your family, put a hit out on you...)
All a buyer can do to cheat a seller is not pay, or be slow about payment. NOBODY ships until payment is cleared. How can a seller cheat a buyer...to many ways to start listing quote: Laurie was just lamenting a few days ago that there are ever and ever fewer rare pedals being put up for bid on eBay these days.
And by all rights that should drive the prices up, The problem with eBay is people have been reading or hearing about how they can make thousands of dollars a month sitting at home buying and selling on eBay. Musical Instruments & Accessories, Jewelry and Tools, are the hottest selling items. I would guess that over 50% of the boss petals being auction on eBay are by sellers who don't know JACK about effect pedals. ( how many times have you seen text that has been copied and pasted right out of the bossarea product reference pages. )
But that's not the point, the point of this tread is buyers cannot rip off or cheat sellers ( except for the point listed above ) and sellers can and do screw over buyers all the time. And yes eBay sides with the sellers, because they are the ones eBay collects $$$ from.
My animosity is not against the sellers of these items, ( I understand their actions completely) it's against eBay for not doing anything about it. |

I'd be willing to bet there were quite a few 'shoppers' running snipe programs on those pedals anyways; but cancelling b4 the end is quite an irritant.
start your listing at $50.00 and go from there, and I agree, FORGET THE RESERVE price, but put a tasty Buy-it-now and see what you get.
I just lament missing the DM-2 for 19.95 BIN: I read the listing, laughed to myself, went back to buy it, and it was gone. GRR. |
