Have you compared the Amdek schematics to Boss schematics?
I'm wondering whether there's obvious similarities between them. |

| The PCK-100 and PC-2 are the same of course, but I don't know about the effects. I have to check if I can find schematics of some corresponding effects of both brands... |

Hi all, this is my first post. Sorry if I bring up this old topic.
I just want to share some information about this Amdek pedal. I found this very interesting site while I'm searching info about this pedal. I have DSK-100 Distortion (from e-bay).

Even the serial number looks like a Boss pedal.
I know Amdek we from Roland-Boss.
I wounder if you can use the decoder on the serial Number?

S/N 173100
serial number 173100 was produced April 1982.

Thanks, I've try the decoder before this but I'm not sure whether it also can work for Amdek serial.
Below is part of Roland History article from internet.
"AMDEK (Analogue Music Digital Electronics Kits)
Although Roland were based in Hamamatsu by the early '80s, Kakehashi established the AMDEK Corporation in Osaka. Their main product lines were small effects units and computer monitors manufactured for Roland (but not by Roland) in Taiwan. For a couple of years, the company proved to be surprisingly successful but, as competition mounted, Kakehashi decided not to compete with the
large computer companies entering the market, and in 1983 he ceased supplying monitors,simultaneously discontinuing the effects units. But this was not the end for the company. Kakehashi renamed it the 'Roland DG Corporation', and then used it as a vehicle to release a range of the company's own computer and music peripherals."

Comparison
Boss DS-1 & Amdek DSK-100
Is that pedal sound is similar to DS-1?
After a long searching, I managed to get DS-1 Japan for comparison.
I'm not so good in comparing pedal sound but one thing I'm can confirm that is in certain DS-1 setting, can create Amdek sound. But Amdek cannot. Full Amdek distortion only half DS-1 distortion.
Later I will try to post some sound clip. |

The first pedal I bought was an Amdek PHK-100. Got it when on holiday in Jersey in 1982
I always found it added a touch of presence to the signal even when the effect was off so haven't really used it for years, but recently connected it up with my CE-2 or a great Pink Floyd type sound
