Hi I have a BOSS CE -1 serial number 118732 it has an MN3002 chip in it and a smaller NEC chip. Does anyone know how to tell me what exact year it was made in?

The old effects made prior to 1977 (and in some cases after) used a different numbering system than the compact pedals. This 6 digit system is not covered by the serial number decoder.
Your best bet is probably to open it up and try to date it from datecodes printed on potentiometers, ICs and transistors.

I have opened it up but the pots don't seem to have anything that would indicate a date, they use exactly the same undatable pots the Ibanez used during the same period. The NEC chip has some codes on it but nothing that would indicate a date, the same also for the caps...I have many vintage pedals, guitars and amps IBANEZ, BOSS, MXR, GRETSCH, GIBSON, FENDER etc...and I know where to look inorder to find a date on chips, pots and caps...but in this BOSS CE-1 there's nothing that would indicate a date being from the 70's.
That's why I asked if anyone would know how to track the serial number.
thanx
Saverio
