That's an okay price..

They're likely all models which are on Fender's "DO NOT RESUSCITATE" list. That means, some repair shop was supposed to throw them out - and the serials are "decommissioned".

..I probably shouldn't say more..

it's odd that they all have holes in their speakers... does it look like they were made intentionally, with a screwdriver? if so, that might support verivorax's theory... e.g., to make it difficult to sell them after they were "decommissioned", someone took a screwdriver to each one and tried to mess 'em up.

from past experience, speaker recones are (were) almost as expensive as new speakers, and for that reason alone I wouldn't touch such a project (unless I really wanted the amp for myself, I guess). good luck with your projects!

On the guitar end of warranty repairs, DNC guitars from Fender (mostly Squiers) are supposed to be stripped of their parts and have their headstocks sawn through to prevent re-use. If it's over $100 (I think) in fretwork on a neck, and it's under warranty, that neck should be sawn and a new one will be sent.

At the very least you have some fun logos to mount on your car.

all of those amps are not very high end, mostly student models. i have to agree with the other guys. probably some thing small is wrong with them and they are so cheap it is easier cheaper to give them a replacement then to fix if. if you are handy and can fix them go for it. if you think yo can make money more power to you.

With all those amps, you should be able to frankenstein something that works or you can be like those dudes on eBay who get Fenders and take them apart and sell them piece by piece. You can probably get some money for the knobs, cabs, parts, iron, etc...

I agree with jack but you also m might be able to buy some "cheap" speakers and install them even if you don't replace the grill cloth and make a working amp out of them i don't think you got hurt on the price at all, Good luck

thanks for all your posts everyone!

some of those holes do indeed look like they were done with a screwdriver, One of the 212r's in particular had a big hole on the side, someone must have been taking their bad day out on it. One oddity in the whole thing, one of the 212r's had barely a scratch on it, only some of the vinyl peeling off from the top left and a small dent here and there from transportation, but the speakers, grill cloth without a whole in it (that i could see) and even came with the footswitch and power cable! I have not had a chance to test it, but from here it looks like everything is ok with that one. took the 2 65W frontman amps to my friends house who has a bit more electronics experience than i do, he looked at them, and other than some knobs broken, the parts (not counting the speaker) should cost only a few bucks, those amps could easily be resusitated for under 40 bucks from what I can tell. Considering I have an aunt who works for one of the major electronics manufacturers, should I need any electronics that is pretty much free, in fact whenever I get around to doing some DIY pedals, thats where I am getting my stuff. Also, I was searching on ebay to see the going rate on some of these amps, and I found this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=190258902520
same condition as the 2 other 212r's I got, for the most part, in fact I think this guy got his in the same place I did, so if I go by that listing, I think I should do just fine. I will be bringing pictures in later!
