I was browsing pedal pictures and came across this one. Anyone heard of it before? I'm not sure if it's even intended for guitar. Looks 20-30 years old and certainly does not have the usual boss design. Is there an HC-1? haha

I beleve it's ment for drummers and synth players. Kind of a low cost version of a drum machine.

I does exactly what the name implies. It makes a synthesized hand-clapping sound. Thnk "Centerfield" by John Fogerty or "Car Wash".

Hand claps was all the rage about 1985. I've heard the HC-2 and personally I think it's pretty boring. Not good enough to be useful, not bad enough to be kitch.

A boring but kind of useful... Pedal? Pad? Waste of cash? I gotta get one!

I really needed one of these a fw months ago for a recording project, but couldn't get one in time. I bought one last week and it should arrive soon. Better safe than sorry for next time, right?

From here you'd have to enter into the fabulous realm of Roland / Boss drum machines, groove boxes, etc. Trigger sample pads, triggerable midi controllers, etc. V Drum kits, electronic latin / hand percussion devices, ad infinitum

I've read many times where Roland sees themselves as a drum manufacturer first and foremost. Just new types and new implementations of technology into the electronic drum product aspect. I think they've succeeded ( and lo and behold, they didn't replace drummers, just expanded music, thank you very much )

bossarea - got some time to start that site?

You should start charging Roland/Boss for advertising their products (bossare.com could technically be seen as advertising, right?) and then hire someone to do the site according to your own fiendish plans! muuuaaahhhaaahhhaaahhhaaa!!!

I do have to say that back in the early 80's (when i was five or six years old) things looked pretty grim for drummers as a whole. Thank god ppl started to hate programming drum machines. But phenry is right in the sense that drum machines haveexpanded music as a whole. I've played on the roland V-drums and if I had the cash to drop on the sound modual and a couple of V-pads I would do it in a heartbeat.
