| I think if I recall correctly, the Classic Fuzz by DOD came out first, but then shortly after that the Boss Fuzz came out, but I cannot recall exactly when. |

Worst Boss pedal: CH-1 Chorus - Dunno why, but I just don't like the tone of this one.
Worst Non Boss: A Rocktek distortion pedal I was given by someone years ago - the nastiest, fizziest, most unnatural sounding distortion I've ever heard - a truly horrible pedal! |

For me, it was the Ibanez Tube King. There was nothing tube-like in that sound; it was spiky, buzzy and fuzzy. Sold it after a week or so. Tony |

My worst pedal ever? A DOD Red compressor. Uggh. All it did was sQUEEEEEEEEEze everything and create a horrible hiss.
My son sleeps with it now. He's 3 and he really digs my pedals. I let him sleep w/ my Guyatone Tremolo from time to time (it's broken.)
I had a Metal Zone for all of about 30 seconds one time. My brother tried to "give" it to me for a good price. He was trying to recoup some of his costs. Uggh, that pedal sucks. |

Back around '88 or '89 I had been using an MXR Distortion+ but it died on me one night (my brother later fixed it after I'd given it to him)and the next day I had to find something to replace it with.
There was only one music store in the town I was playing in, they didn't have (Boss, MXR, Ibanez) anything that I was really looking for. What they did have though was a little box made by Arion (I think) that was called "Metal Master". Well, I bought it. It had the harshest sound I'd ever heard in my life and I tried for two weeks to tame it but I never could. It was like they had managed to model the built in digital "fizz" that you hear in some low quality multi-effects pedals.
I still remember part of what it said in the small manual that came with it(and this is the exact wording): "Nothing can do what is Metal Master" and that's about what I thought too "what the hell is Metal Master?" and thank gawd nothing else I ever bought did what it did.
After the next pay day I managed to find an old pro co RAT in the next town that served me for a pretty good while before I got back to my Boss pedals. I've always been in the habit of giving all my old pedals to my electronic genius brother when I get new ones (he still has the RAT) and even he couldn't do anything to the Metal Master to make it sound decent and he ended up giving the plastic box of crap to somebody he didn't care too much for. |

Sounds like the music store in the town I grew up in, they mainly had Arion, Aria, Lotus, Cort, Harmony, and Holmes for guitar gear. Every now and then they'd get a nice used instrument though...I used to have an Arion Stereo Chorus, which I got rid of, but now I hear some people collect them cause they have a unique sound... |

(lol) if a collector ever finds a use for a Metal Master I'd like to see it . There was one other one that I remember buying around '73, a fuzz pedal made by Foxx, not quite as bad as the MM and probably even collectable.
On the other hand ,my brother had what seemed like a copy of a big muff around the same time, was one of the best distortions I'd ever heard, he kept it for many many years. It was made by Targ & Dinner. |

ahh, I'm surprised I could remember the maker of the box (Targ & Dinner) but I found it on the net, seems like we were in Chicago when my brother bought the unit. That's where they were made.

Called a "Marveltone distortion sustainer" his had red lettering if I remember correctly, was a great unit. |

I had an Arion Metal Master god it sucked big time until you put it in a loop with a dod noise gate and a boss compressor. God that was a good sound.
Foxx tone machines are beautiful....
Worst pedal has to be the Arion Delay. Hmmmm.... Well it echos and it fizzed as the notes faded and then it made a little woosh noise just to make sure it had killed what little of your tone was left.
