For some reason the sustain knob is up full as are some of the other controls....i've stopped using my CS-3 in favour of Lauries HZD booster ..personally when i used compressors i would never use them with the sustain knob up full....

I think it sounds awesome. But then, I like mashed potatoes, so consider the source. My only beef would be he has every freakin' control dimed to make that tone. I'd hope for more range for $200 worth of compression. If the controls have to be dimed to get that tone, just put a fixed resistor in there instead, and have a two-knob compressor taking up less real estate on your pedal board.

I tried an MXR Dyna Comp yesterday. Meh, definately no better than my CS-3. I could have got it for 20 bucks (I had 40.00 in credit at the place that was selling it, long story.) I passed on it and used the credit for something else.

Wampler Pedals formerly used to be IndyGuitarist, and if memory serves me correctly, he drops by this forum every once in awhile. I don't personally have any of his pedals, but I know that one of his clients/endorsers is Brent Mason, so that's saying something.

How do you love compression, and not dig a Dyna Comp? It is the standard 'cheap' pedal, and not very different fromt the $$$ Ross or even the Keeley. With Keeley you spend an extra $150 for better capacitors and a 3PDT footswitch. Man oh man, a Dyna Comp is cheap (in price and parts quality), but it works.
Put it this way; there's 912 known mods for the CS-3, and how many for the Dyna Comp? That's all I need to know.
Hey, don't get me wrong. I have a dozen compressor pedals and a handful of rack mount units as well. And the Dyna Comp isn't anywhere near the top of anyone's list, including mine. But it is a great bang-for-the-buck compressor. It works, and it doesn't add a lot of noise or distortion to my signal. Try saying that about a CS-3 with a straight face.

I agree on the Dynacomp just doin' it's thing and doin'it right! Some other good ones are the Maxon made Ibanez CP9, Gilmore still uses this in his live rig. Ibanez hasn't reissued it as of yet. Another cool one is the DOD Perfomer 525, it runs a 20v power supply (17V internal) and just smokes! I found one recently fo $30 w/ power supply, beat to f**k but works great!

I thought Gilmour was a Dyna Comp guy? I'm pretty sure Pete Cornish did the board for the Animals tour, and there was a Dyna Comp on there. But another awesome pedal (if money is no object) is the Diamond CPR-1 or how about the EBS Multicomp? The Maxon is also really nice. There aren't many really bad compressor pedals out there, other than the reissue Orange Squeezer.

Gilmour has been known to use the CS-2 and the dynacomp together on the guitar intro of 'shine on you crazy diamond'..i heard he also had the maxon/ibanez in his rig at one stage but i'm not sure he uses it anymore....one of the best ones i've heard in the last few years is suprisingly the simulation of the LA-2A studio compressor in my Pod XT pro....doesn't squash the tone too much...

Yes, I have seen reference to David using the Dyna Comp and CS-2, but a pic I saw of his rig on his last tour you couldn't miss the bright red CP9! I'll post it if I can find it!
