Welcome to the forum from ireland... ...i thought the digitech/Dod stuff used a mini jack connector instead of the boss barrel type...?..just be careful ya don't blow something inside the pedal if the rating is different to the boss adapter, i know some of the older ACA ones were rated for 12v but there was/is stuff inside the ACA pedals to bring it down to 9v...i tried a adapter of a zoom 505 once and it worked on some of the pedals but did some other very strange stuff to some of the others..DD-3's LED came on but no effect.... all the ACA pedals LED lite up really bright..the jap DS-1 sounded amazing for a while but soon i started getting some very strange feedback out of the amp everytime i turned on either my OD-2 or my DS-1.... plan B... i went out a bought a new boss adapter..no more problem...... |

Hi Bob Barcus
Be cautious, as I have measured a lot of unregulated 12 supplies, and many measure as high as 18VDC Unreg. - Unloaded. One of the higher current ones, was as high as 22VDC.
Very few if any measure close to 12V DC, Unless they have an internal voltage regulator.
You didn't mention if your 12V Digitech power supplies, were regulated, or un-regulated.
If you have access to a multimeter, please check them before you plug them into the older MIJ's. It would be "Bad Karma" & frustrating to fry some MIJ Boss gear.
For a quick & dirty load get a half watt resistor, of around 2k2 (2200 Ohms), this with give you an idea of what the loaded voltage might be. Use a 1K (1000 ohms) resistor if you want to apply a greater load.
While this method is not definitive, it will give you a feel for what's happening with the Unloaded & Loaded supply voltages, and if your supply has an inbuilt regulator or not.
On the regulated supply you should see very little difference in the voltage, whether under load or not.
And as Franzoni mentioned, you may have to change the plugs or make an adapter cable-plugs.
Always check the polarity of your non-genuine supply/s. Boss pedals use negative inner tip on their pedals, & most other gear.
Hope this helps?

Hi Bob
if your using MIJ boss pedals the chances are they are all ACA powered..you can use a PSA adapter if you have one PSA pedal in the daisy chain with them or else you will have to do the jumper mod on each pedals power inlet for the PSA adapter to work.....have a read of this topic to explain more...
