I own a roland cube 30 and it has built in distortion and effects. There a two main distortion types I like, which are the Brit Combo and Tweed. I prefer the Brit one (which i think is a OD-3 with COSM Tech) but I also really like the Tweed one. Does any one know if there was a pedal (Boss or other brand) that could achieve that gritty sound so I could use it live. I could assert a youtube link if someone wants to know what it sounds like.
Let me piggy-back on fuzzy's question with a related question. I have a Cube 30 and the Brit Combo and Tweed are my favorite settings also. Is the Brit Combo supposed to emulate and AC30?
I would have to agree with Caliban on the FBM-1. The Tweed is modeled on a Bassman, right? So it makes sense that the FBM-1 would be the pedal to go to. However, I do think there is a difference between using an amp modeling pedal versus and straight-up OD/Distortion pedal. From what I've read, the FBM and FDR don't seem to sound as good when strictly used as an OD/Dist. pedal and placed in the chain accordingly. As amp modelers, I would think they out to go at the end of the chain, with perhaps only delay and reverb coming after them.
