I have the Tascam DP-01..it's a digital 8 track, one of the early ones.... it's not bad,but you can only record two tracks at a time which is a bit of a bummer 'cause we like to record 'live' so i will probably upgrade it sometime in the future....it has a 40GB memory but the newer ones have a CD burner built in..the quality is good in the sense that i had a really old 4 track before this so it's a big step up but i'm sure compared to some of the computer based stuff it's wouldn't be as good,i also believe that the quality of mics and the room/enviroment the recording takes place in plays a big part to the overall vibe/projects outcome....the plus side is it's portable and has built in effects..IMHO the built in reverb if pretty good for mixdown for creating a bit of ambience, you can also hook it to the computer with the USB port as well to save or email the tracks to someone else.... if you want to hear some of my attempts to capture the bands original material our site is www.myspace.com/clandiablo the three songs are our own.... |
