My daughters, when they were younger, had pet rats - I think we've had around 10 all told. Amazin' little critters - I really liked them. They are awake during day-time and pretty lively and as long as you train them well - you can handle them and they never bite. The kids used to build assault courses for them
Just never, never. never let them get near any cabling or precious guitars as those teeth are nuclear strength and they will cut through anything

| Hamsters are the easiest creatures to live with: they leave you alone and when you want some fun you just have to wake 'em up! My last one, Frodo, lived more than three years (a grandpa among hamsters) and enjoyed a good time with us as we were all grown ups, not kids with too much spare time. Felt very sorry to see him go. |

Yep, us too. Can't have rats in Alberta, Canada though, so we have Degus (look em up - rat-like with even more personality).
We have: 4 x degus 1 x gerbil 1 x hedgehog

Him... his name is "Ucci" (ooo-chi). They are actually a member of the rabbit family, so their fur is soft rather than coarse like the rats used to be. |
