As you may have noticed on E-bay related topics there was recently a swindler selling VB-2 cheap to a lot of people in Sweden.
I wonder how plentiful such things (regarding Boss pedals) are internationally?
Have any of you experiences?
I have bought 100+ Boss pedals via seller on the net and never been swindled yet, but I assure you it was really close with the VB-2. Just luck that I didnt pay before the swindle was revealed.

other than unreasonalbe shipping rates, ive never been taken, but i do beleive that MOST of the people that get ripped off is their fault to begin with. i buy a lot off forums too and those are even unsafer than ebay, but like i said as long as youre smart about it you should be safe.

If the price is too good to be true, it is probably a con. I have been fortunate enough to have never been ripped off. I have only really bought and sold on ebay though.

Its not always too good to be true though. I would say that rule only applys for international. If its local, I would say to go down and have a look. Its either the deal is real, and you can buy it, its fake, and you leave, or another situation that you just have to always be ready for.

When I buy something online though, I always check to make sure that everything is right

Yes, local is often the safest. One of the tests I like to do is ask the seller if I can pickup and pay cash, even if they are not local. If they refuse to deal in person, watch out. Could be a scam or the item might not be as advertised.

O yea, that reminds me of another thing I do online.
If im just answering an ad, I will usually ask for their address for where I can send a money order, then swtich over to paypal sometimes. That way, if they expect to see money, I have their real address so that if something comes up, I have some for sure way of getting in contact/perminent information about the person (and usually the name on an email header is real too).

Sometimes it's also helpfull to google with the info you got, like name, city etc.
So I found out that a zero feedback seller actually was a musicstore, found their website etc. while that was never mentioned on ebay. For me it felt a bit safer to buy (in this case a brand new boxed+manual mz-2 for 55 euros).
