In case you haven't been following it lately -- the street prices on this one have jumped substantially over the past couple of months...

| I wonder if there is currently a player that everyone is going crazy over who uses the HR-2. I mean like when you see Gonkulators for sale it seems like everybody says "Incubus! Incubus!" somewhere in the copy. So I'm just wondering if the rise in price has to do with someone famous saying recently that they use the pedal. |

I think it has to do with the growing popularity of Melodic metal. A lot of Scandinavian metal bands use guitar harmonies (including mine, although we arent scandinavian) all over the place so a lot of guitar players who want to play their songs and dont have a band/other guitarist to play with probbaly want this pedal. Works for me cuz I have 2! |

| I did not realize they could be using something like an HR-2, I just thought it was a short delay setting. Thanks for the info. |

...and about four of those $150.00 BINs have disappeared in the past 24 hours or so.

well then out of my curiosity what do guys think an HR-2 is worth??
I personally think they're worth $80 but good luck on finding one for that price, $100 is what I see lots of sellers on message boards sell them for or if you're lucky $90, but for some reason lately I can't seem to find one for less than $130
Between this and the MZ-2's something is up, mostly just prices but something.
And as far as someone famous using an HR-2, I know the guys in Oasis use them for recordings, particularly on their more recent stuff (Standing on the Shoulders of Giants) and onward.
Otherwise I've got no clue. |

I think that they're worth whatever the market will bear -- I just find it somewhat disturbing that one guy a short while ago gets about $145.00 for his, and then immediately after that everyone decides that that will either be the BIN price or what the auction bidding will start at.
Oh wait. That is the market setting the price then, isn't it?
Never mind.

might be time for me to sell my extra one, I don't think the prices will be this high for too long, once people start realizing you have to know what key you are in to use this pedal. LOL. not to mention the detector in jack issue. |

Well, now that you've mentioned it -- could you elaborate?
The key issue is actually one of the things that's been holding me back -- is the HR-2 something more useful in a recording studio situation than an onstage one? If you were to use it for more than one song, and the songs are in different keys, and you going to be down there on your knees with a flashlight or BIC lighter twiddling knobs in the middle of your set?
The other thing that I wonder about is how it affects your amplifier setup -- if it were me, I'd almost have to have separate amplification for each of the voices, in order for it to really sound like separate "voices" in harmony, because the effect would tend to be diminished if they were both (or all) coming through one channel. So there's that additional level of complexity added also, and then again, for how much use it would actually end up getting in the end.
So is it just going to be a fun gimmick that one is going to end up tiring of quickly, and that, ultimately, Iron Maiden's approach is the best one?

| well, it does a pretty good job of enhancing leads, and as long as there was adequate stage lighting and you memorized the layout of the pedal it wouldnt be too hard to switch. I don't think you'd need two amps or anything, but Iron maidens approach is definitely the best. Basically its cool to have a rhythm guitarist playing the rhythm and still being able to have harmonized leads. It also can be used for a lot of fun noise making of course. |
