to celebrate 5 million units sold, this 1988 Boss commemorative plaque:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7358965305

this is the second one I've seen on eBay over the last 6 months or so, but I haven't really been looking for these guys (they seem to appear when I'm searching for some other Boss item). this item would be ideal for a collector who already has every pedal they want, which rules me out at the moment....

(and in case anyone is wondering, no I am not in any way affiliated with the seller, nor do I plan to bid on this item.)

Well... it's really not a very cool thing. You can't use it for anything.
I'd rather have one of the coffee mugs, the wrist watch or... their 6 million units sold celebration item

true, the 6 million DS-1 is much cooler, and more practical to boot. but if I had such a fancy pedal, I'd never use it for fear of scratching the paint....

Why is 1976 not included? And why did it take them another 10 years to sell 1,000,000 pedals? Sounds like their popularity dropped (or everbody already had what they wanted, whichever).

good questions, walrus! perhaps the plaque celebrates 5M Boss products sold, and the DS-1 celebrates 6M Boss *compact effects* sold... that could explain the starting date discrepancy, and may also explain the units sold discrepancy. incidentally, 'the Boss book' says 7M Boss compact effects had been sold by July 2001....

Why not go for your own custom-made bosspedal Jilty?

Once you have got it you can always advertise it here, just to turn us on

That's actually not a bad idea. I could buy a cheap boss pedal and take out the guts and design new ones (or get someone to) or I could just mod a pedal. I know a friend that could paint it, well I think he could cause he paints mexican cars funny sparkly colors. I think a sparkly gold would be cool, I'd call it Jilty (J-1).

Whow the J-1 with the orginal JRC 4558 chip, just do not tell us how many different versions there are around of this chip as we all would become serious collectors of that highly sought after J-1

In a way this whole idea of having your own version of a Boss pedal is not that bad, each of us here could have there own one, and we could send them to each other just to listen to how each's pedal sounds like.

Seems that you cannot edit quotes, and once you do that it does no longer show up as a quote Did I do something wrong there???

I'm totally serious about the J-1. As soon as I get more dough together (probably around summer time) I'm gonna start working on this.

Well I think it is a good idea, and I also think we all should have our own pedal, but the thing is................the current ones out there are so good in themselves which makes it harder to come up with something you feel is missing at the moment.
