Hi all

Something happened on a gig over the weekend that i thought would never happen,my LS-2 got trashed.... a drunken punter managed to push one side of the P.A. over and the top half of the speakers landed on my pedalboard....it was just after the last song and the bins and tops we use are the old EV eliminators so there is a good bit of weight in them....at the time everything looked ok but last night on our regular gig i noticed the LS-2 wasn't working, the top part of the pedal has a good size concave ding in it and the switch is broke...i think i remember laurie got switches somewhere for these before .... of couse as soon as it happened we hear a load of stories from locals about how all the other bands have pulled out of the gig over similar occurances....... i normally put the top over the pedals soon after i stop playing but because my overdrive pedal is tube i like to let a little bit of air in to let it to cool down for a few minutes..i suppose i should be thankful for small mercies as it could of easily been my CE-2 or the twin tube that got trashed as their right beside the LS-2.. the singer reckons he saw the corner of the cab land on the LS-2 but i think it's repairable... worst case scenario i will just take the top off one of the others i don't use and order a switch....this might sound a bit callous but i wouldn't have cared less if it had landed on the punter as he was completely p****d and didn't even really realise what he had done, and i know laurie works in sound so i'm sure he will (or anyone familiar with the EV's and the eliminator rig) will vouch for it's weight,it takes a hell of a lot of force to knock these over and it's never happened before in nearly 8 years of constant gigging with this rig in some rough shops...the barman told me afterwards it's becoming a big problem at the moment ..people loading up at home on vodka and god knows what else and coming in for the second half of the gig and ordering one beer....sorry for the rant........but the LS-2 is the cornerstone of my board.....

Glad it's only your LS-2, I hate drunks who don't know what they're doing.

Hi FRANZONI

Sorry to hear about the bad luck.
Which was good luck for the Classic tube pedal.

Send in some internal pics & we might be able to help you sort it out,
or at least commiserate with you.

I was also, very happy to hear it didn't damage, The CE-2 that you have left me in your living will.

In a situation like this, is there any comeback on the drunker punter?
Beside a belt in the head by the band, & the Pubs Grunts...

What are the PA (EV eliminators) Cabs like?

Regards Dr. Bob

I have a set of these subs I picked up cheap from a failed club as part of my workshop speaker system

I'm not deaf... I said I'M NOT DEAF!

Fantastic sound for the price. I have JBL MS112 mid-higs sitting on top of them. have also used it in small clubs and had the comment "this is the best sound I've heard here".

Damn, that sucks Franzoni.
Besides your pedal, how's the PA?
That can usually take a good beating, but still..

thanks everyone...i have to agree with Laurie on the sound Dr Bob...for the price they are good sounding cabs,we have the subs and matching tops which are rather big compared with most other modern rigs ...so when this baby fell she took a lot of real estate with her.... the drums also got a bit of the initial brunt but it finished up on my 'board.... the tops are nearly the same size as the subs that laurie is talking about and you need two people to lift them comfortably..we have a trolley that we use to wheel them in and out of gigs so that might give everyone an idea of the weight involved..... to answer Dirks question....the P.A. appears to be fine, they are well built, very robust cabs part of the reason i'm reluctant to change them even though they are a bit of a haul each gig.... Controlfreak.... i know exactly what you mean bro'... but i don't want to name the place in question as the staff are a good bunch and we never have had problems there before,in fairness the guy in charge was out like a light from behind the bar a couple of times during the gig to stop any messing...one of the dangers of gigging when Man Utd and Liverpool are playing earlier in the afternoon.... i'll take some pics as soon as i get my board out of the van..... thanks again for the replies.....

PS i'm updating my will to include you Doc and the CE-2......

PPS..... Laurie i might take you up on that switch,i will take the LS-2 apart to see exacty whats wrong but my gut feeling is the top part got pushed down so hard on the switch it broke....i'll leave you my HM-2...

That all sounds good mate! Just let me know and it will be in the mail - whatever i can do to help in your "time of need"

So the bottom line is this... Boss pedals can be broken, but it takes being hit from a great height by a speaker that it takes two people to lift... I'd say that's "built like a tank"

..... basically....

DeFrag......as controlfreak said ..i probably should of taken it off the board and hopped it off his head but i don't think he would have felt it....

Hi Franz.

Yep sad story, you always need to careful to avoid accidents like that. Keep people out of the equipmentarea. But accidents like this are unavoidable as you do not have security people walking around to protect people from accidents and guarding your gear.

Sometimes you see punters leaning against PA collumns, and it would only take a little bit of weight to knock them over. Some people just do not think!!

Great to see that you can get some help from Laurie.
LS-2 is easily replaceable since it is still in production.

About 4 years ago I dropped a guitar on one of my LS-2's [No Straplock !!] Guitar was fine, LS-2 did have a fair dint. Did not trust the pedal anymore as it played tricks on me. Traded it in for a new one.

Yep Bosspedals can be broken, it only takes a bit of bad luck or an idiot who will set you back a few quit.

for anyone interested..if you look at the top part of the pedals side elevation and the inside you can see the hairline crack in it..only when i took it apart did i notice that the baseplate took a bit of a hammering as well........

What condition is the board in? cant tell from the pics, but if it is OK, a new switch will fix it. Easy way to tell is power up the pedal and touch the two switch wires together.
