A while ago I bought a nice mint condition GE-7b on Ebay for a bargain price of 25 euros. I normally use it in the loop of my Ampeg preamp to boost some the higher midrange frequencies.
Anyway, with one of my bands we shifted to a different rehearsal space and the bass amp there is quite frankly a piece of shit. A 200 watt Torque amp with a 4x10 cab. I've seen some other Torque amps, pretty budget stuff, can't find a website anywhere. The sound itself is pretty good, but the set just doesn't have the efficiency to cut through a drums, guitar and vocal mix. I had allready turned up all the midrange, which helped a little but not enough. In fact, with all the controls set a 12 o'clock, which is usually the flat response, the sound seemed pretty scooped. So after a few weeks of frustration, and not wanting to lug my own amp around, I tried something else. I hooked up the GE-7b after the CS-3, turned up all the midrange (basically an upside down V pattern) and hey presto, the amp came to life Finally I could hear myself, without being too loud in the sub frequencies, cause the amp boosts those like crazy which would make the guitar player complain "why are you turned up so loud?" to which my response would be "but I can't even hear myself..." I guess that's pretty recognizable
So here's a to my little friend, pictured here with two of his brown series brothers:

Hi Dirk
Nice story with a good ending...
I recently saw a banjo player use a GE-7 with almost identical settings, to liven up the mids on his aging banjo. I took a few pics of his setting, it was the only pedal he used.
Sounded good too.
Those pedals look pretty minty. Regards Dr. Bob |

Hey Sorry SP-1
I have searched extensively through forum's code, & I'm not able to find any executable HTML code for:
[collector mode] [/collector mode]
It did have me ROTFL for quite a bit.... I gather you're having a good day/week.
Regards Dr. Bob

They are, although the chorus has seen a lot of action lately. And I sold the flanger, cause I never used it and I'm not much of a collector anyway, all the pedals I have serve a purpose in one way or another.
My brother does basically the same thing with a GE-7 on guitar, he uses it to boost his solo's, which in return was stolen from Slash who has being doing so for ages. The pedal is actually a lot more powerful when used in the FX loop, since there's a higher signal to work with. This is how both Slash and my brother use theirs. The aforementioned Torque amp unfortunately doesn't have a loop, so I had to use it in the front end, with good result. Basically the amp sees a bass with a ridiculously high output, especially in the mids. But hey, it works. |

I haven't used a GE-7B on guitar, but GEB-7 works very well on guitar. So I would think that GE-7B would work well too. Nice pedal BTW Dirk |
