Mods, feel free to move this if you think it belongs somewhere else.

Following in other user's footsteps, I'll post some pics of the creation of my board :)

Step 1 - laying out the materials - plywood and felt

Step 2 - stapling the felt around the plywood

Step 3 - all done (front/back shots)

Step 4 - arrange the pedals and apply velcro

Step 5 - initially done

Those pics are back from September -- I've since changed my board around a lot, so here is a more recent picture.

I will try to take an updated pic for the board thread tomorrow... because that's not even a current one

Maybe.
I was just recalling about one of us who gigged with it and wondered who it was.
More importantly I was wondering how it worked for you, and what you use it for.

It works well. I use it primarily right now for an interlude between two songs, and will be recording another one or two of those as well. I also plan on transferring some sound clips into it; just haven't hooked it to the PC yet.

I only play live with my metal band right now, so I don't really have use for a looper to loop. I hope one day to have an ambient/effect-driven side project where I can use it a lot more.

Hi nion

Nice project so far, thanks for all your pics.

===slightly off topic for a minute===

You mentioned:

I would really like to hear, the music & projects/recordings,
you work on when you get this side of your talents going.

As you know I have a soft spot for these type of projects.

It would be cool to to a collaboration, if you get keen?
You have my PM.

Regards Dr. Bob

I hope to record some of this some day. I love putting on delay, phaser and tremelo and just letting it flow.

The intro to one of our songs is quite Pink Floydish, says my drummer and bassist, haha.

A collab would be cool, definitely.

i was wondering if that felt will work better for the "loop" instead of the regular loop velcro

i am in the process of building my board and was thinking of covering it with velcro(loop) and installing the hook on my pedals

jusat wondering which way would be best

my main concern is for them not to move at all

thanks

You make a good point that I forgot to put in my post... I did not use the right kind of velco. Also, you need to have the felt VERY VERY tight to the board. I ended up having to put several staples in on the top of the board and the felt still pulled.

I would not recommend felt unless you can find some sort of industrial grade, perhaps. I used the regular felt from a fabric store and it pulls badly... my board is "hairy" now.

My next board will use carpet, or I will just tie-wrap the suckers down.

Kick speaker carpet may do well.

Back in Australia, we can get a carpet-like material called "frontrunner". It is perfect for this application. I have checked on the web and I can't see if it's available here in North America.

I used to buy this from a chandlery (boat outfitter) - might be worth trying a store like that for boat finishing fabric? It's much tougher than felt.

Hi Laurie & guys
Check out the address in the Contacts link:
NYLEX CORPORATION PTY LTD
3 Healey Road
Dandenong
Victoria Australia

One industrial block/Street from where I work.
that's about 1.25Km by road, if you drive the shortest route.
There are many industries in that part of town.

Sort of brings back that saying about it being a small world.
