I just stopped by your MySpace page: Clan Diablo & gave the songs a listen. Wow
Lost and Lonely is an awesome song.. I caught a hint of Straits in there but on the other hand, its all your own. You guys are pretty tight. The other two are pretty good as well.
I try to help a couple guys at work by recommending gear, mixing & tracking techniques, recording, & promoting them. Its fun for me & gets me playing around as engineer sometimes but I wish I could help out a band like yours. I hear the talent. Keep on mates.. sounds good! |

thanks bro'.... yep your ears don't decieve you Mr Knopfler was a big influence growing up(along with the usual suspects Clapton,Beck etc..JJ Cale was also on my playlist)one of my first albums was the Alchemy live double LP from the straits,we could do with a bit of help on the recording end as i do it with a little tascam 8 track and you can only do 2 tracks at a time so i had to mic the drums into a little sub mixer and record them onto 2 tracks, the guitar was all recorded via the Pod XT Pro which i find good for recording in a hurry... not so good for replacing an amp live though....a mate of ours has just got a pro tools setup and has offered to do it for us so i'm pushing the others hard to make time for recording....we have the material in the pipeline we just need to organise and arrange it and make the time to record it...... |

Bunch here: http://www.youtube.com/user/blairs13
& some others here: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.myvideos
I like making videos
I like the video at blairs13... punkish! Did you put all those clips together yourself? Those were pretty damned cool too.
Except for some occasional camera work by others to film me, I do all my stuff.
Two cheap ways to liven up a vid:
Blue (or red or green) screen: or in my case, a big blue bedsheet hanging on the wall. Won't be prefect, but if you play with the filters enough it is hardly noticeable, especially given the viewing size of a youtube screen. Be sure to give the sheet a proper ironing first.
Old footage: go here to the Internet Archive www.archive.org Tons of cool stuff in the PUBLIC DOMAIN (as in don't go violating copyright cuz they might come after you - although I should follow my own advice: see my Dr. Who Theme cover). I've got at least 3 vids made up entirely of this material, which is a strange mental hump you might want to consider getting over: making a video in which you DO NOT appear.
Again, thanks to Dr. Bob, Franzoni, & Laurie for their support on Millions of Us http://www.archive.org/details/MillionsofUs_TheMusical which finally cracked the 100 download mark.
I am working on another, which should be finished before the end of the year. If you want to see the original before I bastardize it, go here: http://www.archive.org/details/Boywitha1956 |
