Looks like desoldering SMD components is very easy.

No.... that looks awesome! Wonder if Dr. Bob has seen it and can guide us with an opinion?

I usually end up clipping all the leads off the chip, pulling the plastic package away, then using wick on the remaining feet. Agressive, and wasteful if the chip isn't actually the faulty one!

Initial impression.
It looks pretty good.
I would be interested in testing some of this out for field repairs.

Although, going by how easily that SMD IC moved,
I'm assuming that it wasn't held i place by SMD pick & place glue.
Some devices will be more difficult to remove becase of this placement glue.

price: $13.99
for 2.5 feet of the Chip Quik alloy--enough for 8-10 chips
is probably a bit pricey for industry use.

I'll ask my supplier if they have heard of this product, or know the Solder alloy that's being used.

I have some LMP solder alloy at work, I'll check it out, when I can locate it.

Edit--- I have just sent this to my tooling supplier.

LMP = Low Melting Point.

Regards Dr. Bob
