I checked the serial number of my PH-1R via the serial number decoder on this site, but I couldn't get the answer. If there is anywone who knows the reason why or knows the production year, I'd appreciate your responding.
The number is 048500.
Thank you.

Welcome, I'm sure someone with more s/n knowledge will be along soon. Can't be having any unknowns in the Bossarea My PH1r's s/n is 308200 from May '83, weird how yours is lower. |

At the time of writing the serial number decoder, I thought there was no 6 digit serial numbers lower than 050000. Later on, serial numbers starting with 00-04 popped up and the decoder doesn't know how to interpret these.
I haven't added the numbers because I'm still a bit unsure about the production date of pedals with these serial numbers. Did the production go
0300 0400 0500 000000 010000 020000
or was 000000 produced the same month as 0000 so the sequence goes
0300 and 030000 0400 and 040000 0500 and 050000 060000 070000
Using the second way of counting, we have a perfect match with production starting November 1977 and going from 990000 to ZA00000 April 1989. The first way of counting makes more sense but it means squeezing in 6 months of production without having a gap anywhere. I tried moving the first month of production back but soon came across pedals with components made after the production date of the pedal. Consequently I had to move the production start forward to Nov-77 again.
March 1981 is the closest estimate for your 048500 but it might be +/- 6 months.

Hi and welcome to the forum!!
My guess would be that 048500 is a match to #0400 (March '81), since the #0500 and the 05xxxx are both dated to April '81.
It might be an early s/n type crossover, like the relatively rare 5-digit ink stamp, or the paper-label Taiwan serials.
Maybe certain pedals crossed over before others.. does anyone have a #0400 or #0500 PH-1R to test this theory?
I love PH-1Rs.. I'm not the only one here either. |
