I mainly play guitar for pleasure. I've earned some money with it, but not that much. I do have much gear, but I have to work for it.
As for the OT: I do know Sigur Ròs, but I don't like them. They have nice music, but when you hear their music too much they get quite boring.
Other OT: Most Belgian radiostations mix both Belgian & foreign music. The French part of Belgium is a little bit more France-oriented, the Dutch-speaking part more English-oriented. Dispite the mix in music, there aren't many bands I know who have Dutch or French songs.
@Laurie: What does boffo mean? I've seen you using it before, but I don't have a clue!
PLAY GUITAR = It's an important addition to the other instruments that I play, but not my main instrument. But I love my Japanese Fender Stratocaster!
MY COLLECTION = It's some kind of a pride. But mainly I want to have a wide range of sonic possibilities. Therefore I reach for everything that adds new sounds for my collection. That's why our bedroom and our living room are full of various synthesizers and a chest of drawers is packed with effects and effects. I have bought so much in the last years that I actually need a separate and big room if I want to use everything at the same time.
quote:Originally posted by DasBeef My exception on the different language front is Sigur Ros. Their music is beautiful. I don't think I have an exception on the instrumental....
Sorry to keep the OT going but I'm yet another Sigur Ròs fan.
Although given that half the lyrics are Vonlenska/Hopelandic (ie nonsense) to me its more vocal instrumentation than lyrics.
Back on topic though.
For guitar (first and main instrument) I try to keep the GAS under control and only get what I need to achieve the sound...not always successful, but I tend to take ages deciding which piece of equipment to get. My quest for a new combo is taking a while.
For the production/synth end of things GAS is in full effect...
