Don't get me wrong (I've never owned a DC-2 - let alone heard one). It just makes "good sense" to me to have the DC-3. Before you guys yell, yes I recognize 2's place & bow to how it's splendor paved the way... but adjustable parameters is the key, is it not??? Are there sounds from the "2" that cannot be achieved with the "3"???
I have both -- the two sound distinctly different, regardless of settings. The DC-2's sound is "clearer", whereas the DC-3 is a little more midrange-ish.
And note that the switches in the DC-2 simply punch in fixed resistance values; it's probably doable to mod it with a pair of controls in place of the switches, perhaps stuff the board in a spare CE-2 or other two-control case.
The DC-2 is quite possibly my favorite compact Boss pedal. I have two of them. One is NOS/mint condition with box and manual. It cost me 200 USD three years ago.
I have both too, and I have not been able to duplicate the sound of the DC-2 with the DC-3. IMO the DC-2 is the best chorus sound I've ever used, but by no means am I an expert or pro or anything like that. I'm just an old guy with a lot of little colored boxes.
