At the prompting of a Canadian ebayer, I opened up the auction to sell to Canada late yesterday. I would love to offer shipment worldwide, but I need to do a bit more research to feel comforatble doing that. |

Seriously dude, the rest of the (first) world is pretty much just like Canada (I know, I've seen lots of it).... it's just not right next to America... There's nothing to be afraid of, we don't bite, and you're more than welcome to join us out here!
Do your research, but I can assure you that USPS works pretty well with Australia Post (I have bought well over 100 items from the US and have never had a problem), Royal Mail (20+ dealings, no problems), Deutsche Post DHL (10+, no probs), and, I'm sure, pretty much every other developed countries' postal system.

Thanks for your thoughts. I know I sound a little OCD...that's my personality. I actually "do not" use USPS due to the lack of detailed tracking. I have had things get lost in the US using USPS. I only use UPS (and will use FedEx as a backup). I likely wouldn't have any problem shipping to the UK, Europe, or Australia. But my biggest concern is the tax/duty issue...how does it differ with each country? One of my first ebay sales was to Canada for a vintage toy that was $52.55. Once it got across the border, an additional $27 was charged to the recipient. To say the least it caused some concern. As long as a buyer outside the US is aware of these charges there would not be an issue, but not all buyers are aware of this. |

This is true.
Tax/Duty should be the responsibility of the buyer not the seller. I don't know what happens in other countries, but here in Aus you only get charged import tax if the item is over $900 AUD in value, so for pedals that is (mostly) not a problem... Anyway, the seller shouldn't have to know anything at all about other countries' import taxes. Putting a simple disclaimer such as: "Import Taxes/Duty are the responsibility of the buyer, not the seller" in your add covers you.
Buyers outside of the US should be well aware of the import regulations in their own country, otherwise they shouldn't be buying stuff from OS.
