Just ordered the complete first edition (in the metal case not the cheap plastic ones that came after that)

the CM-5 was my first distortion pedal EVER.... I seem to have lost it and now I was offered the whole 1st series NOS....

I'm really looking forward to it... I know it's not the best series in the world... appearance wise - and the switch on some soundtanks is a bit bad... but they do sound good.

and I'd rather have six pedals than a new boutique one for the same price... I'm funny like that.

nice score.

the soundtanks were under-rated imo.

it was such a shame. good sounding pedals, better than DOD, but the quality on em was always suspect.

they are often better low volume pedals than many boss pedals but some don't sound as good if you open up on em.

i often keep my eyes open for these and score em for under $20 when i can.

Hi MullyFX

WOW... I have never seen the metal ones yet.
I have been collection SoundTanks for a while now. but they don't come up all that often out here.

The CP5 Compressor is very good, it has a nice sustain setting.

If you look WAY BACK in the "Mods & Technical" thread, you will see, I posted about the steps I took to repair a really fried DL5
Even the 4164 RAM was Nuked.

I also have the Phaser & the Power Lead.
There is a SlamPunk on evialbay Oz
Do you know anything about this SlamPunk Pedal, & what it's like?

Have you seen/been to this site about SoundTanks?

www.ibanez.com/volume_pedals.html" target="_blank">http://web.archive.org/web/19980101-19981231re_/www.ibanez.com/volume_pedals.html

Please send pix when they arrive.

BTW did you know, that the DL10 delay is the same circuit as the DL5, but has the Pots on a seperate smaller PCB, connected together with a flexi-ribbon cable.

You can also add another 4164 piggy-back RAM, to RAM in the DL5 & get longer delays.

haven't played a slam punk since about '96...

if i remember, it was a really high gain fuzz but sort of transparent as well.

think strat w/ single coils through a jcm800 2203/2204 cranked... and then compressed into a circuit board and roughly approximated through a pedal. closest DOD pedal i could probably bring up is like a thrash master but with a lot more guitar signal coming through.

the soundtanks were rivaling DOD in their ability to create a ton of pedals that sounded slightly different from one another hehe. this one has tons of gain and boosted mids. that one has tons of gain and scooped mids.

just took a look at the site Dr. Bob posted.... those are all 2nd generation Soundtanks...

I'll get 1st gen ones... the ones where each pedal doesn't have it's own font and the soundtank logo isn't outlined.

Classicmetal
Powerlead
Modernfusion
Sixtiesfuzz
Thrashmetal
Crunchrythm

I'll post pictures as soon as they arrive and will give a review on all of them

each seems to have a completely different circuit though.... some are replicas of older ibanez pedals which are replicas of something else ;)

the 60s fuzz is a replica of the OD850 which is a replica of the triangle big muff

the classic metal is a replica of the OD855 which is a replica of the MXR D+ with an added tone control

Hi MullyFX

Very Nice.
Congratulations.
And it's nice to see how they were packaged.

If you ever take any internal pics, please post them.

ha... I'm having fun over here...

btw might be interesting for some:

What the Ibanez Marketing Department finds suitable for Thrashmetal - belongs in the vintage midboosted overdrive section if you ask me - strange name for a pedal with such a sweet sound.

instead of watching football (well we just lost so what's there to watch)

I'm playing guitar again... for all that may be interested

my favourite Soundtank so far is the

Modernfusion a slight overdrive with what seems to be a direct signal mixed back in - tasty stuff

if you can get on cheap.... do get one.... (be sure though to buy the metal cased one)

Nice pedals........i've been following the matches even though were not in this one, your defense and lehmann were asleep for the second goal......i still think you will go through to the next round,i watched austria and poland, austria were very lucky with the peno in the 93rd minute....not so sure about italy and france, they only look a shadow of some of the teams they had in the past....

thanks for sharing the pictures, MullyFX! I'd like to have a few of those early metal-case Soundtanks too, but in the meantime we have your pictures....
